The PBR MN Fall Review took place on Sunday, October 20, 2019. The event was held at the West St. Paul Athletic Center in West St. Paul, MN. The event featured prospects from the 2020, 2021, 2022 & 2023 grad classes; and included many breakout performances from this year's participants. Players showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff and college coaches in attendance.

catchER EVALUATIONS

Hayes Bergren, C, Mahtomedi, 2020
5-foot-11, 200-pound right-handed hitting catcher.  7.77 runner.  Squared and balanced stance with pre-loaded hands.  Strides open with small shoulder load.  Arm bar creating length to contact.  Middle approach with mainly fly ball contact.  Average contact with some strength in barrel.  90 mph exit velocity.  C- Balanced and sits a little high.  Moves some before receiving ball.  Occasional stab.  Average glove with sway.  Average exchange with slightly longer footwork.  2.21-2.35 pop times with 78 mph arm strength. 

Nick Friedges, C, South St. Paul, 2020
6-foot, 180-pound left-handed hitting catcher.  7.50 runner.  Balanced open stance.  Rhythm to load.  Lower half gets through swing well.  Good swing plane.  Gap to gap approach with line drive contact.  Consistent barrel and flashed pull pop.  90 mph exit velocity.  C- Good frame and sits low.  Balanced setup.  Glove is smooth and moves well.  Holds pitches well.  Clean and quick exchange with average footwork.  1.98-2.02 pop times. 78 mph arm strength with good carry and average accuracy to bag. 

Trent Joles, C, Boyceville (WI), 2021
5-foot-10, 195-pound right-handed hitting catcher.  Strong presence. Upright and open stance.  Slow and smooth tempo in load.  Consistent swing and swing plane.  Mid/pull approach with mainly line drive contact.  Flashes pull pop with hard barrel contact.  91 mph exit velocity.  C- Strong with good balanced setup.  Clean glove and sways to pitches.  Shows flexibility in movements.  Good exchange and footwork.  1.86-1.96 pop times.  83 mph arm strength with above average carry and average accuracy. 

Caden Klebba, C/RHP, Centennial, 2022
5-foot-9, 172-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player.  8.02 runner.  Open stance.  Long exaggerated load that lands square.  Stays balanced through swing.  Middle approach with line drive contact.  Consistent contact through round.  80 mph exit velocity.  C- Good movements and can have too much at times.  Works hard with average glove.  Average catch and exchange.  2.04-2.16 pop times. 72 mph arm strength with good accuracy and average carry to bag.  IF- Average feet and works around ball to field.  Fields ball deep with average glove.  76 mph arm strength with good accuracy and carry.  On mound- Simple and repeatable delivery.  Lands slightly closed down mound.  Throws from a ¾ arm slot with average arm action.  Fastball is straight thrown at 75-77 mph.  Curveball lands for strikes with loose 11/5 break at 65-67 mph.  Change-up has slight fade action at 65-67 mph. 

Matthew Sauer, C/3B, Benilde St. Margaret’s, 2020
5-foot-11, 165-pound right-handed hitting catcher.  7.51 runner.  Slightly open balance stance.  Dives into swing with long hand load.  Stays upright through swing and tends to spin through contact.  Mid/pull approach with line drive and fly ball contact.  Average barrel contact with 76 mph exit velocity.  C- Open stance.  Shows flexibility behind the plate.  Sits low with high chest.  Tends to bounce with off-speed.  Average exchange with long footwork on throws.  2.14-2.22 pop times.  75 mph arm strength.  IF- Active feet.  Average glove and can show some stiffness.  Makes routine play.  Some push to release.  75 mph arm strength with good accuracy and average carry. 

Luke Sonka, C, Mounds Park Academy, 2021
5-foot-8, 161-pound right-handed hitting catcher.  7.64 runner.  Balanced set up.  Smaller load and dives into swing.  Flat swing plane and rolls the barrel through zone.  Middle approach with ground ball and line drive contact.  Inconsistent barrel with 82 mph exit velocity.  C- Balanced stance with some stiffness.  Average glove with high target.  Can be late at times.  Slower exchange and feet.  2.19-2.47 pop times.  69 mph arm strength. 

Lucas Stadler, C, Silver Bay, 2021
5-foot-11, 150-pound right-handed hitting catcher.  7.09 runner.  Balanced stance and high handset.  Quick load and long stride.  Barrel drags through zone.  Stiff and short finish.  Middle approach with line drive contact.  Inconsistent barrel with 76 mph exit velocity.  C- Balanced low stance.  Inconsistent glove.  Average on low pitch and glove can be late on higher pitches.  Slow and stiff exchange.  2.37-2.51 pop times.  68 mph arm strength. 

Nick Trucke, C/OF, Watertown-Mayer, 2020
6-foot, 175-pound right-handed hitting catcher.  7.07 runner.  Slightly closed with high handset.  Leg lift trigger with some rhythm in load.  Aggressive swing and good balance through.  Average swing plane.  Good extension at times.  Uses the whole field with line drive contact.  Solid and consistent barrel contact.  84 mph exit velocity.  C- Good strong frame.  Quiet.  Shows ability to hold pitches with good glove.  Longer exchange and footwork.  2.13-2.27 pop times.  70 mph arm strength.  OF- Active feet and shows some athleticism.  Fields through ball and can be stiff at times.  76 mph arm strength with good accuracy and average carry. 

Zachary White, C/IF, Coon Rapids, 2022
5-foot-11, 200-pound right-handed hitting catcher.  7.16 runner.  Narrow open stance and high handset.  Strides to square.  Aggressive swing with some stiffness.   Looks to elevate baseball.  Middle approach with mainly line drive contact.  Average barrel with 74 mph exit velocity.  C- Strong presence.  Shows some athleticism.  Good glove and works zone.  Keeps ball in front.  Longer exchange and footwork.  2.18-2.33 pop times.  Throws from a lower arm slot.  72 mph arm strength.  IF- Average feet and will sit back to field.  Some squat in fielding position.  Glove makes routine play.  76 mph arm strength with some push release.
