MN Unsigned Sr. Showcase: Top Prospects

The PBR MN Unsigned Sr. Showcase event took place on Sunday, August 20, 2017. The event was held at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul in Roseville, MN. The event featured prospects from the 2018 class who showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff and college coaches in attendance.

Today we take a look at the top prospects from the event; followed by our group of strong follows that had strong performances as well. Leading the group was uncommitted 2018 Richie Holetz from Edina. Holetz has a durable build, velocity up to 88 mph, and complimented his fastball with an above avg. slider.
TOP PROSPECTS (ALPHABETICAL)
Ross Cochran, C, Eastview, 2018
6-foot-3, 215-pound right-handed hitting catcher. #56 ranked player in MN 2018 class. 7.8 runner. Narrow stance with weight inside knees, shoulder load, strides to square, shows pop in bat, gap to gap approach, consistent hard line drive and fly ball contact, 90 mph exit velocity. Good receiving skills, holds pitches in zone, easy effort, solid blocking mechanics, overall above avg. mechanics behind plate. Quick feet with good momentum through plate, longer exchange but makes up for it with footwork and throws that have carry and accuracy to bag, 78 mph arm strength with 1.95-2.08 pop times.
Zack Elliott, SS, Eden Prairie, 2018
6-foot-3, 190-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. #31 ranked player in MN 2018 class. 7.09 runner. Physical build, balanced stance, shoulder load, inverted plane, shows pop in bat, mid/pull approach, 84 mph exit velocity. Shows solid actions infield, hands and feet work, moves through baseball, follows throws to bag, has accuracy and carry to target, 86 mph arm across infield.
6-foot, 170-pound right-handed hitting second baseman. One of better all-around performers at event.
