Draft League Spotlight: Richie Holetz
March 18, 2021
Player: Richie Holetz
Position: RHP
School: Nebraska-Omaha
Tall and lanky at 6-foot-5, 210 pounds, Holetz is an imposing figure on the mound. He sits 90-92 mph with his fastball and will touch 94. He also pitches with a low-80s slider that he can throw in any count and a mid 80s splitter. When it’s on, its his best pitch with downward tumble. From just above a three-quarter release point, he commands all pitches. After a strong start to the 2020 season with a 2.49 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 21.2 IP, Holetz has continued his success so far this season with a 1-0 record in three starts, while allowing just 11 hits in 16 IP.
