PBR: Why did you choose Augustana College?
PETERSON: Augustana University just felt right while I visited.  Many of the schools I visited had the things that I was looking for, but the thing that stood out with Augustana was that I could really see myself being there for 4 years.  They also rank very well in academics and have a great baseball team with great coaches which were all also very important to me.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
PETERSON: Concordia- St. Paul, St. Scholastica, and Jamestown University.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?
PETERSON: Coach Moriarty, the pitching coach, first saw me at the Select 60 Showcase.  After a few months passed he shot me a text and we started talking more.  I looked into Augustana and it seemed like a school I would be interested in and we set up a visit.  At the visit I met Coach Huber and Coach Casper and I did a little workout for them along with Coach Moriarty.  After talking to them more I know that they are great people and they know what they are doing.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
PETERSON: Very, it gets pretty stressful at times and all of the great colleges I was looking at made it even harder.  But I am very happy to get to focus on playing baseball now.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
PETERSON: I think the feel of the school, like I said earlier, was ultimately what helped me the most in choosing Augustana.  Going into the college search; that was the one thing that I really wanted to focus on.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
PETERSON: I have been blessed to have so many great mentors to help get me to where I am now.  My mom and dad, TJ Oakes, and Adam Barta are the ones who have helped me the most.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
PETERSON: Going into it I did not expect it to be easy and it was stressful at times, but I enjoyed it throughout the whole experience.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
PETERSON: I am going to be a two-way guy for them- playing outfield and pitching.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
PETERSON: I have many great memories, but my favorite was just this past high school season when my team and I made it to the State Tournament for the first time in school history and ended up winning the Consolation Championship.  My favorite memory of that season was the game to get to state.  After 7 innings of battle we ended up winning 2-0 against Heritage Christian Academy.  I had only allowed 1 hit and got 11 strikeouts throughout the game.  That game will always be in my memory because we achieved our goal of dog-piling on that field and going to the State Tournament.

PBR: Who is the best player you have competed against?
PETERSON: Sam Carlson.
