PBR: Why did you choose North Dakota State University?
KOEP: I wanted to stay fairly close to home and I felt NDSU was a great fit. I really respect the coaching staff. Coach Brown and Coach Oakes are great people. The school has a lot of great educational opportunities and they are investing in athletic facilities as well. I also hope to have the opportunity to hit; as well as pitch.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
KOEP: Minnesota, Minnesota State, St. Cloud State, DMACC and I was talking with many others.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?
KOEP: I think they first saw me when I was a sophomore when we were in the State Tournament vs. Mounds View. They contacted me and I went up for an unofficial visit this last spring, and spent a whole day with the coaching staff touring facilities and campus and talking with them about NDSU. After that Coaches Oakes and Coach Brown stayed in close contact with me and came to watch me a couple more times at this year's state tournament and at a legion game.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
KOEP: It's nice to be done with the process from an athletic and education standpoint; knowing where I will be next year.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
KOEP: Possibly being able to play my freshman year and the opportunity to earn a spot in the hitting lineup. I want to be a pitcher; but I am not ready to stop hitting yet.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
KOEP: I don't want to leave anyone out, but the high school coaching staff- Pete Maus, Mark Auge for starters. Chris Graupmann my legion coach. Jackson Meland, my 15u coach. Donald Blount spent a lot of time with me on my hitting and swing. Chase Hentges and the guys at HTP worked with me on my arm and pitching. Brett Thorney and his staff at TCBA have really helped me get to the next level. Of course none of it would have been possible without the support of my parents.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
KOEP: The process wasn't too bad. The coaches at all the schools I was talking to were up front with me and really helped guide me through the process. I felt I had a pretty good handle on what to expect.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
KOEP: I am going to be competing for a spot in the pitching rotation as well the batting lineup. I am really looking forward to focusing my athletics on baseball, working with the coaches, getting better, and helping the team.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
KOEP: Northfield's state tournament victory over Mounds View my sophomore year. I had the opportunity to pitch against a great team and every guy on our team played perfectly. We had to make every play to beat them; and our whole team delivered.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?
KOEP: I have played against a lot of great players nationally in club ball. Locally, I would have to say Sam Carlson or Ryan Duffy.
