TEAM UPPER MIDWEST QUICK HITS // POSITION PLAYERS

Seth Thompson SS / RHP / Northfield, MN / 2025

Thompson arrived at the Minnesota State Games and posted a 103.5 exit velocity, helping solidify his Senior Future Games roster spot. He’s a two-way threat (he ran the fastball up to 88 in March), but his time in Atlanta featured his position-only side, and that performance was more than enough to garner attention.

On workout day, Thompson had the third-highest bat speed average (80.1) among all SFG participants. That bat speed resulted in an impressive power display during his on-field BP, showing off that pull-side juice and losing multiple balls. While there was plenty of strength in the barrel, his in-game performance showed an advanced approach at the plate, covering the entire zone well and generating more line drives than lift. He finished three-for-four with all three hits going for doubles.

Isaac Pamaran OF / SS / Papillion LaVista , NE / 2025

The left-handed outfielder started the series by staying on a pitch that broke his metal bat in half for a base hit (similar to what last year’s MVP, Danny Wallace, did). He later added a triple and a single with his replacement stick. Pamaran ran a 6.6 sixty on workout day and has previously reached the upper 80s on his throws from the outfield.

Dylan England SS / OF / Boone, IA / 2025

After posting a max exit velo of 99 mph on workout day, England collected a pair of hits in his three-game stretch, including a double and an RBI single.

Nick Bowron C / 1B / Rochester Lourdes, MN / 2025

The 2023 Future Game participant returned to Lakepoint and made a statement at the plate, going two-for-five with two doubles, a walk, and a hit-by-pitch. Bowron’s max vertical of 34.7 inches was tied for ninth-best at the event, a metric that suggests he can create a lot of ground force. Additionally, he’s a sub-7 runner, threw a 1.95 pop time, and posted an above-average Edge Score of 80.61.

Nolan Welke OF / RHP / Plainview Elgin Millville, MN / 2025

Weird. Another left-handed hitter from Minnesota with tons of athletic traits, Welke’s workout day featured a 6.7 sixty, 88 from the outfield and a 33.3-inch vertical. He added a pair of hits in his three games, including an opposite-field double.

Cooper Fiskewold SS / OF / St. Francis, MN / 2025

In the first two games, it appeared that Fiskewold would travel to Georgia only to showcase his ability to draw walks (he had three), but he finally got his pitch to hit and didn’t miss it.

With an early start, Upper Midwest pulled a show-and-go, and Fiskewold, without the typical pre-game routine, still rifled the first pitch he saw into the left-center gap. He utilizes a broad base and can quickly rotate into contact with strength.

Landon Sandy C / 3B / SOUTHWEST HIGH SCHOOL, NE / 2025

Sandy was one-for-four with a double and two walks. He comes across as a cerebral player in the dugout, reviewing scenarios with his pitchers and verbalizing his process before and after at-bats. After striking out in an early at-bat, he said he would get wider with less forward movement in his swing; the result was the double on a tight swing below. Many players make in-game adjustments without communicating, but you experience some of the process with Sandy. He fought tough pitches and spat on others to put himself in favorable counts.

He was also battling minor lower-half issues, so we may have yet to see what a 100% Landon Sandy is capable of. He still posted a 93.0 mph average exit velocity during workout day.

Griffin Novacek OF / RHP / KEARNEY HIGH SCHOOL, NE / 2025

The 2023 Future Games participant is straight-up a linebacker in a baseball uniform. Big, physical athlete. Six-foot-three, 215, with bone-crushing grip strength. And about a dozen other impressive tools to match: 6.62 sixty, 95 from the outfield, 94.5 mph average exit velo, and so on. He finished the series one-for-four with a single and two walks.
