EDINA VS WAYZATA | SECTION 6AAAA | JUNE 6, 2024

Edina 1
Wayzata 6

A highly anticipated section final at Braemar in Edina, where the undefeated Wayzata Trojans squared off with the Edina Hornets. Wayzata needed to win one of a possible doubleheader to punch its ticket to the state tournament.

+ Noah Filer | 2025 | Wayzata

Filer battled hard against a gritty Edina offense. The first time around the order, he would work primarily with the fastball that got up to 88—working in a slider the next time through the order that sat in the upper 70s. Filer used his stamina to his advantage, still touching 87 in the 7th inning. The Purdue commit should continue developing an impressive foundation on the mound.

+ Gaard Swenson | 2024 | Wayzata

The Hillsdale commit was one of two Trojans with three hits in the contest. The left-handed hitting outfielder smashed baseballs left and right, collecting a double and an RBI. In an already-loaded lineup, Swenson has been a nightmare in the three-spot for Wayzata.

+ Matthew Berkland | 2026 | Wayzata

Berkland was the second stick for Wayzata to collect three hits. Hitting leadoff, Berkland uses a tight, compact swing to square up baseballs all around the field. He is solid at shortstop, making plays to help his pitchers stay in a grove.

+ Chase Bjorgaard | 2026 | Edina

Another leadoff bat with promise came from the Hornets in Bjorgaard. Chase passes the eye test with a physical frame, providing some spark for the Hornets. He swings a quick bat through the zone, handling velocity well while controlling the strike zone.

Wayzata would pull away late in the ball game with RBI singles by Brady Lash and Adam Deselich. Wayzata moves on to the Class AAAA state tournament with an undefeated record at 24-0. The Trojans, with depth all around, will look to bring home a championship.

ROCKFORD VS SOUTHWEST CHRISTIAN | SECTION 5AA | JUNE 6, 2024

Rockford 8
Southwest Christian 0

It was all Rockford in this elimination contest.

+ William Haas | 2025 | LHP | Rockford

Our number 2 prospect in the class of 2025 was superb — as he has been for Rockford all season.

In his outing against Southwest Christian to keep the Rockets' state tournament hopes alive, the Tennessee commit showcased a variety of pitches, moving in all directions within the zone. His most significant weapon was his changeup, which features screwball-like tendencies that he throws whenever, wherever, and to whomever.

What makes that pitch so effective is that it mirrors his slider metrics. From his 2024 Midwest Procase:

Velo (max)
SL 75.4
CH 79.5

RPM (avg)
SL 1494
CH 1446

Horizontal (avg)
SL 10.1 in
CH -12.4 in

Vertical (avg)
SL -4.2
CH -1.9

The Trackman data tells us that these two pitches are heading to a hitter's decision point with similar speed and spin rate, leaving them struggling to guess if it's heading in or away. On those two offerings alone, bats have to cover over 22 inches of real estate -- more than the width of home plate. In the simplest terms, Haas' changeup is a reverse slider. And as the video shows, it's a challenge to deal with.

In addition, he has an upper 80s fastball with 11 inches of arm-side run that he moves in/out of and a slower curve that he lands consistently.

FB 84-87 T88
SL 74-77
CH 75-77

FINAL LINE
7 IP // 3 H // 0 R // 12/2 K/BB
22% swinging strike rate

Haas also helped his cause with a 2-run home run in the third.

+ Patrick Binnebose | 2025 | RHP/3B | Rockford

The uncommitted 2025 did nothing but get on base.

Binnebose went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and drew walks in his other two plate appearances. He would come around to score three of the Rockets' eight runs. He showed solid athletic actions in the box and put his 7.2 speed to good use on the bases, hustling for one of the doubles and swiping a bag on another.

His primary position might be on the mound, where he throws heavy, downhill fastballs from an over-the-top slot in the upper 80s.

+ Aiden Smith | 2024 | RHP/OF | Rockford

The Iowa Central commit produced at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. At six-foot-four and 210 lbs, Smith has a physical presence in the box.

He's joining the Tritons as a pitcher, and his upper 80s velocity and mature stature should suit him well. However, his overall athleticism is displayed on the field positionally.

Rockford takes on Breck at 5 PM for the 5AA section championship at Cologne.

OSSEO VS MOUNDS VIEW | SECTION 5AAAA | JUNE 1, 2024

Osseo 1
Mounds View 4

On a windy afternoon, pitching and timely hitting were critical to the success between Osseo and Mounds View. The section 5AAAA semifinals showcased two arms with potential and timely hitting.

+ Jack McHugo | 2025 | Osseo

Jack McHugo showcased impressive stuff. With a 6-4 165 lb frame, McHugo’s long limbs created velocity at relatively low effort. His fastball would sit in the mid-80s (T86) while settling into the low 80s later in his outing. He mixed a breaking ball and change-up in the upper 70s, throwing both in any count. More physicality should see big jumps in the velocity of his whole arsenal.

+ Andrew Gette | 2026 | Mounds View

Andrew Gette was impressive in his most significant start of the year so far. The sophomore surrendered one run in the first on a wild pitch but was lights out after. His fastball sat in the low 80s, running up to 88 in big situations. Gette mixed in a big horizontal breaking ball to get strikes. He got the win going all seven innings, striking out five and giving up only one free pass.

The Mounds View offense got significant contributions from their 3 and 4 hitters. Centerfielder Jack Glancey got the party started with an RBI single. Isaac Beseman would follow him up with his own RBI knock to give the Mustangs a 2-1 lead in the third inning. Mounds View would get their dagger from Iowa commit Tyler Guerin. The impressive pitcher, playing first base, would smash a 2 RBI double the other way to seal the Orioles' fate.

CANNON FALLS VS ZUMBROTA MAZEPPA | SECTION 1AA | JUNE 1, 2024

Cannon Fall 0
Zumbrota Mazeppa 3

+ Hudson Ohm | 2026 | RHP | Zumbrota Mazeppa

Minnesota’s 2026 class has an embarrassment of riches in the arms department and Hudson Ohm is one that has potential to be in the elite tier. Currently ranked 5th, the sophomore impressed in his section semifinal outing against Cannon Falls.

Ohm ran his fastball up to 90 multiple times in the first inning and settled in 85-88. In our Preseason All-State, Ohm spun his slider at 2,400+ with 10 inches of horizontal movement. (In this contest he was throwing it 77-79.) His ability to elevate the fastball off of the breaking ball made it difficult for hitters to protect north/south parts of the zone, and he got plenty of swing and miss on both pitches. These two pitches have the potential to be plus ones and are currently very good at the high school level.

He has a bulldog mentality on the mound and that showed in the situations he got himself into any semblance of trouble: In the 2nd inning, Ohm allowed a leadoff double but struck out the next three hitters to get his team off the field.

High energy with a lot of compete in him. This is an arm that should have a large following this summer.

+ Jack Meyers | 2025 | RHP/SS | Cannon Falls

Meyers did not have the eye-popping raw stuff that Ohm displayed: He simply pitched.

With a fastball that was 79-82, the right-hander worked in some cutter/sliders at 77-78 and a slow curve at 67-69. He stayed away from the middle of the zone and threw off-speed in hitter’s counts. He has a short, quick arm swing that hides the ball well and makes the low 80s fastball play up, especially with the array of secondary pitches he broke out.

He scattered seven hits but really only allowed two hard hit balls in his five innings of work. He finished with six strikeouts and one walk.

+ Jack Krier | 2024 | SS | Zumbrota Mazeppa

Krier was the catalyst for the Cougars’ offense. The leadoff hitter finished the day 2-for-3 that included an RBI single to right to make it a 2-0 game in the 5th. Defensively, Krier played a solid game at short, helping keep Bomber runners off the bases with his glove.

The senior is a multi-sport athlete committed to University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse for wrestling.

Jack Krier - RBI SINGLE

Following Cannon Fall's victory over La Crescent-Hokah, the same two teams will meet again at Mayo Field for the championship game on June 4th to see which team will represent Section 1AA in the state tournament.

WHITE BEAR LAKE VS STILLWATER | SECTION 4AAAA | MAY 29, 2024

White Bear Lake 2
Stillwater 5

The Ponies and the Bears squared off in the section 4AAAA quarterfinals on Wednesday evening in a well-played game. Both teams threw very similar arms, making a pretty even matchup.

+ Dylan Bloom | 2025 | Stillwater

For a heavy left-handed hitting White Bear Lake lineup, the Ponies would roll out lefty Dylan Bloom. The junior would keep the Bears offense at bay for three solid innings before giving up 2 in the fourth. Bloom worked a 1-2 combo, throwing his fastball at 79-81 and breaking ball at 70-72. With velocity not being his game, Bloom worked backward, reading swings and sequencing with his coaching staff and catcher (Owen Maslowski) well. Having the skill to get hitters out without plus velocity will allow any gains to advance Bloom's game to the next level.

Dylan Bloom - PITCHING

+ Blake Eckerle | 2025 | White Bear Lake

The 2023 Future Games alum did not disappoint at the plate. The highly disciplined hitter picked his moment to do damage at the plate, fighting off multiple pitches before driving in a go-ahead RBI single in the fourth inning. The Utah commit also smashed a double to lead off the game. Eckerle was a natural leader throughout the game, playing shortstop with the ability to get behind the dish if needed.

Blake Eckerle - RBI SINGLE

+ AJ Levy | 2025 | Stillwater

Levy was a force at the plate, collecting three hits with one double on the day. With a 5'7, 165lb frame, the junior's game is driven by athleticism. He has put up intriguing measurables at past Prep Baseball events and let it shine in the contest. Up to 87 on the mound, Levy should help the Ponies continue their section and possible state tournament run.

The Ponies got contributions up and down the lineup all night; Charley Rowan started off the scoring with a single in the first. The future Eagle showed his athleticism, swiping a bag right after. Owen Maslowski (2024, UW-Parkside) and Jack Runk (2027, Uncommitted) showed off some clutch swings late in the ball game, simple approaches at the plate, allowing their ability to shine when the pressure was on. This would give the Ponies insurance runs to take some pressure off the pitching staff.

EAST RIDGE VS CRETIN DERHAM HALL | SECTION 4AAAA | MAY 29, 2024

Cretin Derham Hall 0
East Ridge 3

We find East Ridge and Cretin-Derham Hall vying for Section 4AAAA supremacy in a near-identical rematch from Baseball Day Minnesota. Once again, East Ridge and Cretin sent Max Arlich and Paul Jones II to the mound. And, once again, the two Power 5 arms and loaded lineups didn't disappoint in this one. The outcome this time, however, favored the Raptors.

+ Max Arlich | 2024 | East Ridge

Arlich bounced back nicely from the last time he faced off against the Raiders. The southpaw worked 87-89 through all seven innings. He worked well, throwing a heavy dose of off-speed against the bats that squared him up at Minnetonka earlier this month—working a changeup and a slower breaking ball. The Texas A&M commit showed lots of promise.

+ Paul Jones II | 2024 | Cretin Derham Hall

Jones backed up what he did the first time against the Raptors. He went to a cutter as his primary pitch, slinging it at 80-83. When hitters showed signs of being on time with the pitch, the Maryland commit would turn to his fastball at 87-88. PJ also collected a double on the day at the plate. Jones is thought of as a bat-first athlete, but in two viewings in front of Prep Baseball Minnesota, he's beginning to show signs of potentially being a successful 2-way player in the Big 10.

PAUL JONES - VIDEO

+ Jack Blink | 2024 | East Ridge

Jack Blink was an interesting centerfielder for East Ridge. The uncommitted senior used his quick movements in the outfield, getting good beats on balls that could've been for extra bases. Blink also collected an up-the-middle hit. Blink's barrel stays long through the zone, allowing for adjustments to off-speed when needed.

JACK BLINK'S BASE HIT

The Raptors got contributions from the two Lukes (Ryerse and Skinner), who smacked RBI singles to take the lead from the Raiders late in the game. Will Preimesberger was a significant driver of the Raptors' offense as the future Lancer put the nail in the coffin with an RBI triple to the right-center gap in the sixth inning.

East Ridge exacts revenge for the Baseball Day Minnesota defeat and advances in the 4AAAA tournament, where they will face Stillwater in the semifinal. Cretin will look to keep their state tournament hopes alive in an elimination game against Woodbury. Both games will take place on May 31st at Northwestern College in Roseville.

CHASKA VS EDEN PRAIRIE | SECTION 2AAAA | MAY 27, 2024

Chaska 3
Eden Prairie 10

Free bases were the difference in the section 2AAAA matchup on Memorial Day. The 4-seed Eagles took on the 5-seed Hawks in a competitive game early on: Chaska would score their first two runs on back-to-back singles by Owen Strey and Jacob Welter, followed by an RBI fielder's choice. A Haddon Anderson RBI single highlighted the back half of the first up the middle to start the scoring for Eden Prairie.

+ Parker Killian | 2026 | Chaska

Parker Killian got the ball for the Hawks in the playoff opener. The righty would cruise his whole outing at 85-87 with a sinker, throwing a sweeping slider at times at 79-81. Killian worked out of high-effort situations throughout the outing, leaving the game with the lead. The righty will be a strong follow leading up to this summer.

PARKER KILLIAM - GAME VIDEO

+ Owen Strey | 2026 | Chaska

Owen Strey, the young shortstop for the Hawks, was a standout performer. He launched a solo home run under the scoreboard in left field, a significant play that tied the game early on. Strey's consistent performance as a solid shortstop throughout the season is a testament to his potential as he physically matures.

+ Zach Peta | 2024 | Eden Prairie

In his second time facing the Hawks this year, Zach Peta did all you can ask from him on the mound. The lefty sat in the low 80s (T84), spun the slider, and kept the Eagles in the ball game. He would give up 3 ER in 5 innings, punching out 5.

The game took a turn in the 5th inning when the Eagles seized the lead, scoring seven runs. They capitalized on the free bases provided by the Hawks. Despite a lightning delay, the Eagles maintained their momentum, adding one more run to secure a 10-3 victory.

On Wednesday, Eden Prairie advances to the winner's bracket and faces Chanhassen (an 8-seed upset). Chaska sees the No. 1 seed Shakopee in the elimination bracket.

ST. LOUIS PARK VS ROBBINSDALE ARMSTRONG | SECTION 6AAAA | MAY 25, 2024

St. Louis Park 7
Robbinsdale Armstrong 3

In the opening round of the section 6AAAA tournament, the Falcons traveled to St. Louis Park to face off against the Orioles. St. Louis Park's starting pitcher, Miles Jungroth, set the tone early in the ball game. The Lefty up to 85 with the fastball, spun a slider at 74-76 and a curveball at 69-71. The sophomore kept the Armstrong bats at bay throughout most of the game, showing poise with runners on.

MILE JUNGROTH - GAME VIDEO

Augsburg commit Harrison Boughton showed some strong at-bats for the Falcons on a day when they couldn't get much going, collecting an RBI single. South Dakota State commit Dayton Franke also collected two hits on the day. Franke had a presence at the plate, taking big swings early in counts and simplifying with two strikes.

Geiber Silva-Gonzales led the charge for the St. Louis Park offense. The stocky build and pesky hitter sat in the three-hole with 3 RBIs, including a go-ahead single in the 5th innings, driving in two. Griffin Krone (2024) was clutch in the 5th as well for the Orioles. He would rip a double in the left center gap to give SLP big insurance runs.

SLP will face No. 7 ranked Hopkins on Tuesday night at Dakota.
