TEAM MINNESOTA QUICK HITS // POSITION PLAYERS

Noah Asuma SS / 3B / Cherry, MN / 2026

Asuma’s profile rose earlier this summer during a tournament in Arizona, piquing recruiters’ interest with his strong play. His time at Lakepoint did nothing to dissuade anyone from maintaining that coveted prospect status.

The shortstop’s workout day included a 6.69 sixty, but his first 10 yards measured at 1.58, the second quickest among all Future Game participants, an elite level of quick burst speed.

He maxed 98.8 exit velo and backed it up with a 94.4 mph average exit velocity, within the top 20 for that metric, showing off how consistent his swing can be. Perhaps that is possible because Asuma’s grip strength measurements were well above average for each arm (also in the top 20 among all FG participants) and within 10% of each other (178 and 170, respectively).

He launched a prolific home run on a 90-mile-per-hour fastball on a 3-2 pitch. He finished the event three-for-five with a home run, a pair of singles, and two stolen bases. Defensively, Asuma showed above-average hands and an impressive internal clock, knowing what gear to use to get the out across the diamond.

Riley Asmus SS / 3B / Morris Area, MN / 2026

Asmus undoubtedly looks the part at six-for-three, teeming with athleticism, and screams projectability. On his workout day, he checked many boxes and displayed a strong, whippy barrel on the plate. He finished the week two-for-five with a pair of singles and two walks.

Culley Ohm 3B / 1B / Waconia, MN / 2026

It’s a cliche to say a hitter is hitterish, and really, what does that mean? Nobody calls a catcher catcherish, right? Regardless, hitterish is the label that suits Ohm best. His overall stat line might not concur (he was one-for-five, with the lone hit being a single), but he found solid barrels, even while recording outs, and worked counts in his favor to draw three walks. He also swiped three bags as well.

Davis Fleming 1B / OF / Cretin-Derham Hall, MN / 2026

Fleming is a talkative, upbeat player in the dugout, and his performance on the field also speaks volumes. The first baseman went two-for-five with a double, single, and HBP in the three games. He’s got above-average speed for the corner spot (6.95 sixty), arm strength (82 across the diamond), and genuine juice (99.5 mph exit velo). If you want to dive a layer deeper, Fleming walked away with an Edge Score of 85.4 (out of 100), the 18th best among the attendees; the visual scores indicate how well a player processes information and reacts to it – a solid skill to have in the field and at the plate and Fleming’s results are on par with the average MLB player.

Matt Mieras C / 1B / Waconia High School, MN / 2026

Mieras took home Player of the Game honors in Minnesota’s final contest after going two-for-three with a home run and single. The catcher/first baseman caught Shooter Hunt’s attention during workout day, deeming his swing one with “quiet intensity” (not to be confused with the student alt-rock band of the same name). He maxed out at 100.1 mph exit velo in that round. It’s hard not to appreciate the power potential in that left-handed swing.
