2016 OUTLOOK
The Mustangs graduated an outstanding core of players in 2015; 62% of the pitching innings and 80% of the At-Bats from the 2015 season graduated. Five players that played significantly in 2015 return in 2016 (Tyler Fredlund - OF, Jeff LeMay – C/OF, Bo Lovdahl – IF/P, Nick Lovdahl – OF/P, Ryan Nickel – IF) and we have a number of players excited about their opportunity to contribute in 2016. We expect Nick Lovdahl and Bo Lovdahl to anchor the pitching staff, and there are many players that will compete for time on the mound in 2016. We go into the season inexperienced at the varsity level on the mound. The success of the Mustangs in 2016 will largely be determined by how well we can develop a pitching staff. Playing outstanding defense will always be an emphasis, and we expect to be solid here again in 2016. The Mustangs graduated a great deal of offense in 2015, and we are looking for players to step up in 2016 to produce offensively. With the graduation of so many starting players in 2015, we’re looking forward to a great deal of opportunity and competition for varsity playing time. We expect to see a number of different players earn some varsity playing time early in the season as they compete for playing time in the second half of the season and on into the Section playoffs.
