Bosch Hoping Omaha In His Future At Coastal Carolina

GRANDVILLE - A decision on the future has Case Bosch looking ahead with anticipation.

“I’ve always valued the college experience,” Bosch said. “I think it will be fun. I’m looking forward to the next chapter of my life, moving on and dialing in.”

That chapter will take place at Coastal Carolina, bringing an end to a long recruiting process for the highly-regarded Jenison High School senior.

“Once the rule changed Aug. 1 of last year, I knew going into that date I was gonna take it slow and probably make no decision until this summer,” the third-rated 2025 left-handed pitcher in Michigan reflected. “I told the coaches that.”

No matter the time frame, Interest remained at a premium for the 6-4 210-pound southpaw.

“There were a lot of conversations through the winter and I updated stuff through PBR,” Bosch explained. “The looks kept coming. The big thing was to stay in contact with the coaches to be able to see me in the summer.

“It was never stressful,” Bosch added. “God was in control so I never worried about where I would end up.”

There were visits to Auburn, Michigan, Michigan State and Baylor, and more recently offers came in from Liberty and UAB, but it was Coastal Carolina that stood out according to Bosch.

“I’d known the pitching coach, Matt Williams, when he was at South Carolina and saw me at the Future Games,” Bosch related. “He went to Coastal, called and said they were interested. I pitched in front of them a couple of times and they offered.

“I went on a visit at the end of June and the place is beautiful. The facilities are awesome and the coaches are great. The first-year head coach (Kevin Schnall) took me around campus, which was cool. I saw it from his point of view.”

There was more that made the university located in Conway, S.C., just minutes from Myrtle Beach, intriguing.

“The competition they play and the fact I could play early was important,” Bosch noted. “They have three lefties on their roster now, and coach said as long as I improve I can pitch early. 

“They always seem to be in the tourney, that was a big draw for me,” the 17-year-old continued. “They won the championship in 2016 and are consistently in the regionals. There’s a lot of excitement in the program.”

Coastal sees the sixth-ranked senior in Michigan as a potential integral part of future success.

“They like my competitiveness on the mound and my projectability,” Bosch related. “I know I have a lot more in the tank and I hope to be a force in years to come.”

The left-hander is confident about making an impact in the Sun Belt Conference program.

“I want to win,” Bosch said. “That program prides itself with winning on a big stage and I think I can bring that as a lefty. I’m excited to be there.”

Playing at the next level is something that Bosch has thought about for some time.

“It’s always been a dream to play professional baseball and college baseball is just part of that,” Bosch explained. “Credit God above for helping me get there. College baseball has always been the goal, it’s part of that next step mentality.”

Summer coach and strength coach Miko Rodriguez is credited with being a major influence in the baseball journey for Bosch, as well as Pablo Rodriguez and pitching coach Mason Englert.

“Pablo was not only my coach, he also helped me and my parents navigate this recruiting process and kept our heads straight throughout this process,” Bosch said. “Mason gave me valuable insight and experience from a professional pitcher and helped me work on my pitching, not only physically but mentally as well.”

Finance is the planned major for the 4.361 student, who is thrilled to have brought an end to his recruitment.

“This is really exciting for me and my parents,” Bosch said. “They want to see me in Omaha. This is a chance for me to go and develop while also having a chance to make that happen.”
