Fletcher Whitley LHP / 1B / Saline, MI / 2021

SALINE - Fletcher Whitley has the desire to go to college and play baseball back in the direction of where he grew up.

Born in Virginia, the Saline junior has made contact with Eastern Tennessee State, Virginia Commonwealth and the College of Charleston during the recruiting process.

“Mainly the warmer weather and that you can play baseball year ‘round,” Whitley said of why he would prefer playing in the south at the next level. “I’d be able to get outside earlier in the year. Baseball changes a ton when you’re outside instead of inside.

“Also, being born and raised in Virginia, I kind of miss it. Coming up to Michigan was a big change. I moved here in the fourth grade.”

A job change by his father brought on the move to Michigan, but another has Whitley thinking about the south.

“My dad just got a job in Tennessee,” noted the 44th-rated 2021 in Michigan, who has also talked with JUCOs such as Walter State in Tennessee. “But I’m still finishing out my senior season in Michigan.”

State schools Western Michigan, Central Michigan, the University of Michigan as well as Michigan State are others the third-ranked uncommitted junior left-handed pitcher in the state is considering.
