Unsigned Senior Spotlight: Versatile Left-Hand Hitting Middle Infielder Carpenter Still Available
December 13, 2013
Lets just say that Bronson, MI has not been the hotbed of recruiting, however a diamond in the rough can be found there. It would be a mistake to overlook the 5-foot-9, 139-pound Chase Carpenter (Bronson HS) but that would be a mistake.
Carpenter put on a show back in August at the Unsigned Senior Games and was one of our favorite performers. Several attributes stood out to us about Carpenter.
1) Left-handed bat. Carpenter has the pop to drive the ball to the gaps and he is able to get to extention well. His consistent swing leads to a high average hitting at a nearly .400 clip but he also drove the ball out the yard four times last year.
2) Versatility. Carpenter shows good actions in the infield but also has plenty of ability to be able to play in the outfield as well. He shows above average arm strength in both the infield and outfield at 85mph and 87mph respectively.
3) Athletic- Carpenter has smooth easy actions and runs a 7.3 in the 60. The well-proportioned middle infielder has a good motor and drive.
On top of all of this, Carpenter is an Honor Roll Student. While he hasn’t made up his mind yet, Carpenter has received interest from several Division III and NAIA schools.
