John Locker RHP / OF / Brother Rice, MI / 2021BIRMINGHAM - The impressive numbers stand out.
It has all the makings of a highly-recruited two-way college prospect. That is the case for John Locker, an uncommitted junior at Brother Rice. “I’ve been talking with Wake Forest and talking with a couple other ACC schools the past couple months,” related the 16th-ranked 2021 in Michigan. “I was also planning on a couple coming to watch my high school games.” While that is on hold with school not in session, recruitment continues for the 6-0 195-pounder, whose only college visit to date was at Michigan in eighth grade. “A lot of them like that I’m a two-way guy,” pointed out Locker, a right-handed pitcher and outfielder/third baseman. “I’ve been working hard this winter and they’ve seen a lot of improvement in me. My high school coach also does a good job of telling them about my improvement.” Getting better is the goal for the third-rated uncommitted junior in the state. “My hitting has really improved,” Locker said. “I’m continually hitting the ball hard. I’m working on my spots and working downhill. “I’ve also been working on my infield at third base. On the mound I’ve gotten better with my offspeed at hitting my spots.” The drive to continue making strides is strong for the top uncommitted pitcher remaining in Michigan’s 2021 class. |
