Sterling Heights Stevenson has emerged as a perennial state title contender. In fact, the past five years they have won four straight MAC Red championships and taken two trips to Battle Creek (2011, 2013). It is no wonder with their winning ways that college recruiters consistently make the trek to Stevenson in the spring.
The Titans will send two players, Riley McCauley and Greg McDade, to attend the Midwest Futures Games that will undoubtedly continue the flurry of colleges heading to Stevenson.
McCauley has a chance to a be a two-way player at the next level. He boasts good arm strength both across the diamond and on the mound. McCauley has reported been as high as 89 mph but has only been up to 87 mph for us.
In the field he has good actions and plenty of arm strength to make all of the plays. Offensively McCauley has a nice blend of power and speed, although he is not a burner.
McDade is an exceptional athlete with tons of potential. His speed and hands have him being notice not only on the baseball field but also on the gridiron with several Division I schools taking notice for both sports.
The 6-foot-2, 170-pound lanky athlete has above average footspeed coupled with a raw toolset. Although he projects best in the outfield, he may see a few innings in the infield as well this weekend. A left-handed swinger, McDade has some raw physical tools that certainly will intrigue college recruiters.
Both players were key contributors to the success of Sterling Heights Stevenson and will continue to attract attention from schools for the next few years.
