The highest ranked player left in the class of 2014 has finally made his decision. There may not have been a press conference of LeBron James proportions but it was a big decision nonetheless. AJ Montoya (St. Joseph HS) will take his talents south of the border to Toledo University. Montoya is one of the best athletes in the class of 2014. Montoya is best known for his ability to hit despite being a 6.86 runner and a incredibly gifted arm. Montoya had serious interest from multiple Division I programs in the region after attending Midwest Futures Games last summer and Top Prospect Games this summer.
Joining him at Toledo will be Kyle Rago (Berrien Springs HS). Rago impressed at this past June's Top Prospect Games. Rago has good bloodlines, his dad played at Ball State, coupled with a strong right arm. The big bodied righty sat 85-88mph at Top Prospect Games and featured one of the best breaking balls at the event.
Paul Harper (Utica Eisenhower HS) had flown under the radar for the most part, aside from his propensity to hit the long ball. Harper committed to Ball State on Saturday adds a power left-handed bat to the Cardinals. Ball State is known for the "jet stream" to right field and Harper is sure to take advantage of it. Additionally Harper is an outstanding student with a 28 ACT and a 3.7 GPA.
