At a Rockies workout in July 2012, a 5-foot-10, 160-pound Cole stood out with an 84-86 mph fastball and nasty slider in the low 80s. He ran a 7.1-second 60-yard dash that day and also showed some ability at the plate. He’s now a wiry 170 pounds, but has shaved a half-second off his 60 time and added some juice to his fastball. He runs a 6.6-second 60 and has been up to 93 mph on the mound. He remains raw, but is athletic with a quick arm.

Cole transferred to West Bloomfield after the Pontiac school system cut funding, leaving Cole and his teammates without a place to play.
