Grant Reising LHP / OF / Divine Child, MI / 2021CANTON - Grant Reising admits to being behind schedule when it comes to making a decision on college baseball. “I’m kind of late to the recruiting scene,” the Divine Child junior related. “Myself and my mom and dad didn’t understand what we had to do. We weren’t sure how to get in contact with colleges we were interested in, but PBR was helpful in giving us that information.” While no visits have been made or planned, the seventh-rated uncommitted 2021 left-handed pitcher in Michigan has gone to a couple camps while also filling out questionnaires for schools. “I’ve just started talking to one or two schools,” Reising said about his recruiting process. “It doesn’t seem as bad as I thought it’d be. It seemed like there were so many options, so many schools, I thought it would be harder to get the attention of college coaches than it’s been. I don’t think it will be that hard now that my toes are wet and I’ve had a touch of it.” Improvement on the mound is making it easier for the 6-3 180-pounder. “I’ve been hitting 85 all month,” noted the 81st-ranked junior in the state. “A year ago I hit 82 once in the winter. I was mainly high-70s or the really low-80s. “I’ve gotten quite a bit cleaner on my mechanics as well,” Reising added. “I used to stride way out toward first base. I’ve done a lot of work with my travel coaches and once I figured things out I’ve increased my arm speed.” A three-sport athlete, Reising sees a lot more progression ahead. “I feel that I have a lot of room for improvement,” Reising explained. “Throwing 85 now is pretty good, but it’s not outstanding. I play three sports and I don’t get in the weight room much. I think when I do just baseball I can get a ton stronger. |
