PBR: Why did you choose Ball State?

Theisen: I chose Ball State because I felt like it was the best fit for me athletically and academically. I felt really comfortable when I stepped foot on campus and really liked where the program was headed in the future. I also felt like I had a chance to really develop as a player there under Coach Maloney. 

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Theisen: I was also considering Michigan State University and Ohio University. 

PBR: Where did the coaches first see you? How did your relationship develop with the coaching staff?

Theisen: I believe they first saw me at the Futures Games, but later on saw me perform at the Area Code Tryouts in Westfield, Indiana. After that, their coaching staff contacted and we just built a relationship from there. 

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Theisen: My first year on campus I will plan to develop my skills as best I can while supporting the team anyway I can. 

PBR: What summer team do you play on and how has travel baseball helped your development as a player?

Theisen: I played for A Green Baseball and our coach Stan Eldridge has really helped get my name out there to various coaches and it has helped me develop as a player by just relaxing and having fun playing the game I love. Just going out and competing against the best has really improved my game.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Theisen: My dad has had the biggest impact on me as a player. He is the head coach at Saline High School and I would not want to play under anyone but him. Every single time I ask to hit or throw, he would always takes time out of his day to help me. He has been my biggest supporter in my athletics and pushes me to be the best player I can be. 

PBR: What were your stats for this spring season at Saline?

Theisen: I batted .394 with 35 RBI's with 2 home runs and 10 doubles. I was also 15 for 15 on stolen bases and had an OBP of .516. I also threw out 75% of runners and picked off 4 players. 

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Michigan?

Theisen: The toughest pitcher that I have faced in Michigan is Jackson Lamb. He was consistently throwing low 90's against us. Josh Smith, who now plays for Saline, has also been a very tough pitcher to hit against.
