Position Player of the Week
Kohl Roberts, C, Napoleon HS, 2014
Roberts had himself quite the week last week. In four games Roberts hit .500 (7-14) with a double, triple and four RBI. Perhaps more impressively, Roberts did it on the defensive side throwing out 80% f baserunners (4-5).
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Roberts has transformed his body and is a hulking presence behind the plate. Roberts has plenty of arm strength and the bat is starting to come along.
Pitcher of the Week
Robert Gustitus, RHP, Catholic Central HS, 2013
In the biggest game of the year for Catholic Central, the Catholic League semi-finals against U of D Jesuit, Robert Gustitus came through in a big way. Facing a potent U of D team and an another ace in TJ Shook, Gustitus did just enough to win for Catholic Central sending them to the finals at Comerica Park.
Gustitus threw a complete game striking out seven walking two, and allowing four hits. He wriggled out of a few sticky situations and kept a calm demeanor on the mound. The unsigned senior's fastball sat between 80-84 mph coupled with two good breaking balls, a 12-6 curve (70-72 mph) and a sharp slider (75-77 mph).
