PBR Michigan Spotlight Game: Southfield Lathrup vs Hazel Park
Southfield Lathrup bats exploded as they run away with a 12-1 win over Hazel Park,
Hazel Park opened the game with the leadoff batter, 2017 Damian Ewald being hit by a pitch. He later stole second base putting himself in scoring position. Ewald scored due to a free base loaded walk giving Hazel Park an early 1-0 lead.
That would be all for Hazel Park as it was Southfield Lathrup the rest of the way.
Southfield Lathrup's 2017 Keith Powe Jr reached base on an infield error, then stole both second and third igniting a huge second inning.
Unsigned senior Ronald Carr, Texas College Commit Justin Foulks and Unsigned senior Xavier Jefferson all reached base on free passes, scoring Powe Jr.
Unsigned senior Chase Garrett then smashed a 2-RBI double and later scored on a 2-RBI single by Madonna commit Kevin Smith Jr.
Lathrup was able to score an additional 2 runs on walks, giving the Chargers a commanding 6-1 lead at the bottom of the second inning.
Southfield Lathrup took a 9-1 lead at the end of the third due to additional walks.
In the top of the fourth inning Carr crushed a big fly over the left field gate giving the Chargers a 10-1 lead at the end of the 4th inning.
Carr led-off the seventh inning with a double to the left field fence followed by a RBI infield single from Foulks. Smith Jr then hit a double off the centerfield fence scoring Foulks which proved to be the final run of the game, giving Lathrup the 12-1 win.
Kevin Smith Jr dominated the Hazel Park offense as he was clicking on all cylinders. Working with a nice and easy tempo he raised his leg waist high throwing with a loose arm. Smith Jr threw a no-hitter, striking out 11.
