Now An Outfielder, Lowry Looking To Track Down Offers

LIVONIA - Just this past year Brendan Lowry became an outfielder.

“I played shortstop until this year when I became primarily an outfielder,,” the Livonia Churchill junior said. “I’m just an athlete that can play anywhere needed. I love running down balls and maybe being able to make a diving play. It’s always fun throwing guys out, too.”

Lowry came up with a big play during the Future Games that brought some notoriety.

“A ball was hit to the left-center field warning track,” Lowry reflected. “It was a shot, but I ran it down. Western saw me make the play and that impressed them.”

Western Michigan is just one of the schools that has shown interest in the seventh-rated 2020 in the state. Toledo and Wayne State have offered and Eastern Michigan has shown an interest.

“The Future Games sparked a lot of the interest,” the 5-10 180-pounder said. “There were more scouts there than I can count.”

Lowry also went to a Michigan State camp and last summer had a visit to Michigan.

“They came to see a high school teammate of mine play and ended up liking me,” explained the top-rated unsigned junior in the state about what led to interest from UM.

Lowry has a lot that attracts those at the next level.

“The like how hard I play and my athletic ability,” Lowry said. “They like the ground I can cover in the outfield and my approach at the plate.”

That is an area of the game the left-handed hitting junior has been making strides.

“I’ve really been working on my approach,” Lowry pointed out. “I feel if I can increase my spray chart and go more to left field that will help getting more hits.”

Aaron Wilson, PBR Michigan director of scouting, has high praise for Lowry.

“Brendan is a polite player with a great personality off the diamond,” Wilson said. “When he steps on the field he is something special. He has lots of tools on the field. There is not much on a diamond at the high-school level that Brendon can't do. His bat really has pop from the left side. He will be able to play at any level.”
