15 players from the state of Michigan were drafted during the 2014 MLB First Year Player Draft. Three from the high school ranks and 12 from 4-year colleges.

Jordan Foley, Central Michigan’s Friday starter was the first player selected in the 5^th round by the NY Yankees, the Yankees also drafted Foley in the 26^th rd in HS. Foley became the highest drafted Chippewa drafted since 2002 when RHP Chad Pleiness was drafted 146^th overall by the Blue Jays

Preseason MAC player of the year Andrew Sohn of Western Michigan was selected in the 6^th round by the St. Louis Cardinals. Sohn became the highest player selected out of Western Michigan since RHP Ethan Hollingsworth was drafted in the 4^th round by the Rockies in 2008.

Right handed pitcher Dazon Cole (West Bloomfield HS) was the first HS drafted in the 29^th round by the Atlanta Braves; he is currently committed to Central Michigan University. Left handed pitcher Grant Reuss (Crankbrook Kingswood HS) was selected in the 31^st round by the Detroit Tigers, Reuss is committed to Michigan. Catcher Sammy Stevens (Brother Rice HS) was drafted in the 34^th round by the Detroit Tigers, he is committed to Georgetown.

Oklahoma State C/OF Zachary Fish was drafted for the 2^nd time in his career in the 11th round by the Chicago White Sox.

Oakland University had two players drafted in Jake Paulson and Jake Morton for the first time since 2004, when 3 Grizzlies were drafted.
