In-depth look at recruits who have signed to d1 programs outside of the state
Recently Michigan has seen most of its top prospects stay in state, however in the Class of 2015, five of the top ten prospects have elected to leave the state to further their baseball career. Two to Kentucky, one to Marshall, one to Indiana and another to Ball State.
In 2012 the entire top 10 stayed in state. In 2013 just one prospect decided to leave the state, and he did not head too far away as Jacob Britt chose to attend the University of Toledo. In 2014 three of the top 10 prospects headed outside of the state to play collegiately. Dazon Cole headed to Wabash Valley, Matt Ruppenthal gave his commitment to Vanderbilt and Brad Schaenzer chose to further his baseball career at Kentucky.
Kentucky Lands Top Two Recruits
Kentucky made good use of their time when they recruited the state of Michigan as they got commitments from the top two prospects in the state. They landed number one ranked player in the Michigan 2015 class and number the three prospect in the overall PBR rankings in outfielder Nick Plummer (Brother Rice). Plummer had a phenomenal summer and bolted up draft boards and looks to be an early round draft pick in the 2015 June Draft.
The number two ranked player in the Michigan 2015 class Josh Smith (Saline) also choose Kentucky. Smith will make his case on the mound from the left side but will also push for time in the field too as he has the ability to be a two-way player with his bat.
