The 2014 Major League Draft takes place June 5-7. It will begin Thursday evening at 7 p.m. EST with the first day consisting of the first two rounds and competitive balance rounds. The third through 10th rounds will take place on Friday and Rounds 11-40 will happen Saturday. The final two days will start at 1 p.m. EST. In advance of the draft, Prep Baseball Report is posting a summary of each state in the coverage area with scouting reports on the top high school draft prospects.

Michigan has seen just seven high school players get picked in the top 10 rounds since 2000 and the 2014 class is a reflection of that trend. Signability is typically a factor that pushes players down as they may be keen on college, but with the new draft spending rules, Michigan’s class could see some players climb into the top 10 as some have expressed interest in signing and forgoing college.

1. Keegan Baar, LHP, Hudsonville HS, MI
At the Super 60 in February, Baar jumped out to scouts with a 90-91 mph fastball coming out of his long, loose frame that stands at 6-foot-4, 190 pounds. He started the season out in the mid 80s and saw his velocity creep up as the weather warmed up, but hasn’t quite reached the level he was at in February.
