Jake Keaser RHP / 1B / Orchard Lake St. Marys Prep, MI / 2021Rankings StateRank: 23 / POS: 7
ROCHESTER - It has been a big off-season for Jake Keaser. The addition of 15 pounds of muscle has the 6-2 220-pounder throwing seven miles an hour faster than a year ago. The improvement has Keaser receiving serious interest from Division I colleges. “I’ve been in contact with a couple schools, most MAC,” noted the 23rd-ranked junior in Michigan, whose lone visit has been to Dayton. “I’m also trying to reach out to Big 10 schools.” A transfer to Orchard Lake St. Marys has proven beneficial even before the high school season has even started. “Coach (Matt) Petry called a meeting and recommended 2SP,” Keaser said in reference to the sports performance facility where he has been working out. “He’s seen people in the past improve a ton by going there.” The second-rated uncommitted right-handed pitcher in the state’s 2021 class has a lot to provide a college program. “Those I’ve talked to like my size and how I throw,” Keaser pointed out. “I’ve been focusing a lot on my pitching and coaches like how my curve moves, they like my fastball velocity and they like that I throw a good changeup.” Exposure has come via a number of PBR events, most recently the Fall Future Games Trials in November where Keaser was listed in the Best Fastball and Best 3-Pitch Mix categories. “I like going to PBRs to see how I compare and stack up with other guys,” explained Keaser. “I know what I have to do to get where I want to be and that’s high up in the rankings.” The seventh-ranked junior right-handed hurler in Michigan understands where improvement is needed. |
