Inside the Recruitment: '16 RHP Tyler Thorington commits to Western Michigan

PBR: Why did you choose Western Michigan?
Thorington: I chose Western because I felt the coaches were the people that I would love to play for, it's a good distance from home, and they have a program that fits me.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Thorington: I was considering Northern Illinois, Miami of Ohio, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, Dartmouth, Cincinnati, Georgetown and Notre Dame.
PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you?
Thorington: The coaching staff first saw me at the Crossroads Baseball Series Showcase in Indiana and at a PBR event at Michigan State.
PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable moment.
Thorington: I played for the Great Lakes Cardinals for the last 3 summers and I'm playing for the Chi-Town Cream this upcoming summer. My most memorable moments are making it to finals of the Nationals at Notre Dame and striking out 15 batters against the West Michigan Broncos 18U team.
PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process?
Thorington: My expectations were that it wouldn't be so complicated and that it would go by quicker.
PBR: What were your stats last spring season?
Thorington: ERA: 1.21; WHIP: 1.20; 85 Ks in 56 IP; 31 hits allowed; 8-2 record; also batted .350
PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced?
Thorington: The toughest hitters that I have faced are Greg McDade and Drew Blakely
