Davis Feldman, RHP, Brother Rice, Class of 2015

PBR: Why did you choose Eastern Michigan?

Feldman: I chose Eastern Michigan because Coach Van Ameyde is a great coach, and it is his first year as the head coach and to be a part of his first recruiting class really intrigued me. Since I was little, I had a dream of playing Division 1 baseball and when this opportunity came up, to play for a great coach and in a good conference like the MAC, it just felt right and I took it.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Feldman: The other schools were Northern Kentucky, Wayne State, and Hillsdale.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you?

Feldman: Coach Van Ameyde and Coach Roof first saw me last winter at a showcase, when Coach Van Ameyde was still at Michigan State. He said he liked me and we stayed in touch and then when he got the job at Eastern, he came and watched me play a couple times over the summer and I went to his camp about 3 weeks ago. 

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable moment.

Feldman: In the summer I play for Prospects Baseball. My most memorable moment is probably pitching the championship game at Virginia Tech. It was under the lights and just a really cool experience, plus we won so it was all good. 

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process?

Feldman: The recruiting process was overall pretty good. I had contact with a lot of schools and I got my name out there. I had a lot of very good choices to choose from and it was fun to see all the hard work that was paying off. I'm glad the way it all turned out.

PBR: What were your stats last spring season?

Feldman: Rice season: BA- .489, hits/at bats- 24/49, BB- 8, SO- 7, OB%- .675, RBI-16

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced?

Feldman: The toughest hitter I've faced is without a doubt Nick Plummer. Only in practice, but I never want to face him, plus he's my best friend so we have a little personal competition when we face off. But he definitely deserves all the hype he's getting.
