6.17.17 MHSAA State Championships

PBR Michigan Scout
Cole Daniels, LHP, Saline, 2018
Game report: Sat 86-88 with his fastball out of the high three quarters arm slot while mixing in a curveball at 73-75 MPH and a changeup at 81-82 MPH. Showed great command, living on the corners, and consistently threw all three pitches for strikes. Held University Liggett to just one hit in four innings of work.
6.10.17 Grand Ledge Regional
By Spence Impellizzeri
PBR Michigan Scout
Sam Weatherly, LHP, Howell, 2017 (Clemson commit)
Game Report: Sat 86-88 with his fastball, topping out at 90 MPH, and showcased a pair of quality offspeed pitches in a changeup at 78-80 MPH and a curveball at 74-77 MPH. Throws out of the high-¾ arm slot with loose arm action and has an athletic frame that projects well. Struggled a bit with his command but was able to work out of jams before being forced to leave the game with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth after reaching his pitch limit.
6.10.17 Grandville vs Lowell
By Dan Killian
PBR Michigan Scout
Nate Stephens, C, Lowell, 2017
Game Report: Strong frame with quick athletic actions both at and behind the plate. Behind the plate he receives the ball strongly and out in front. Good flexibility with explosive actions when blocking and throwing down to second. Transfer is short and quick, with good rhythm between his feet and upper body. Arm action is short and strong, which along with his quality transfer allows him to throw the ball down to second between 1.90-1.95 seconds. At the plate he uses a short compact load for timing and releases a strong swing with good bat speed. He drove the ball very well today in the Jenison Regional semifinal game against Grandville, but his efforts fell short. Lowell ending up losing 9-8 in extra innings.
6.10.17 L'Anse Creuse vs Sterling Heights Stevenson
By: Dylan Wilcox
PBR Michigan Scout
Luke McGuire, RHP, Sterling Heights Stevenson, 2017 (Eastern Michigan commit)
Game Report: McGuire threw in relief in the ten-inning semi final game and was still given the start in the championship game. Early in game two the Eastern Michigan commit was sitting 86-88. As the game progressed he appeared to be battling a leg cramp in his league but the bulldog righty kept pitching through it. This caused his fastball velocity to dip slightly as the game progressed. However his slider was still sharp and he showed great pitch-ability as the fastball velo dropped and he was able to get creative with pitch sequencing to remain effective.
6.3.17 Portage Central vs Loy Norrix
By Spence Impellizzeri
PBR Michigan Scout
Jeff Criswell, RHP, Portage Central, 2017
Game Report: Fastball was up to 94 MPH in the first inning before settling in at 89-92 MPH. Relied heavily on his fastball in the start, but used his curveball at 74-76 MPH with late break as his strikeout pitch. Showed good command, striking out 10 while walking just one batter in 6.2 innings of work.
