It is with great excitement that we release to you today, the FINAL update to the Class of 2024 rankings. We unveil the Top 225 players from across the Old Line State and Delaware as we finish up the spring season.
The top two remain the same, as we see some movement throughout the top ten and a plethora of risers throughout the entire 225.
Sliding up two spots to number three, Virginia Tech signee Andrew Kerns continues to get better each time we see him, and an early March look this spring was impressive. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound righty has put on some well-added muscle and the athleticism has followed suit since his days apart of the Mid-Atlantic Future Games team in 2022. Featuring an overpowering fastball, sitting comfortably in the low 90s and occasionally reaching into the mid-90s, the heater shows plenty of ride through the zone with the ability to showcase feel to the arm side and the consistency to create whiffs in and out of the zone. The breaking ball continues to develop, showcasing shorter 10/4 shape that plays well off the fastball in the zone. The changeup was the difference-maker in our eyes, showcasing some late dive action towards the knees with killed spin towards the bottom of the zone. If the command can stay somewhat consistent, look for continued success at the next level for Kerns.
Another St. Maria Goretti product that sees a rise in the top 10, Virginia Tech signee Parker Sweeney turned himself into a real two-way standout across the state this spring. On the bump, Sweeney works with intent with quick, fluid arm action and plenty of athleticism throughout the operation. The fastball settles in the upper 80s and into the 90s in the 2500 rpm range. The ability to work the fastball in and out effectively stands out, and the feel for the zone shows some intrigue. The breaking ball shows 1/7 gradual shape with some depth when down in the zone. We liked the changeup to RHH's, with the ability to create whiffs and weak contact consistently in the low 80s.
Offensively, the hit tool flourished this spring and the ability to impact the baseball at a high rate opened our eyes throughout the season. Power numbers continue to rise, and the body has certainly filled out to provide even more strength to the barrel. Operating with a rhythmic backload, the hands showcase some whip with the ability to create consistent backspin and lift to the gaps and alleys. The approach is consistent, staying on the ball well with awareness for the barrel that produces line drive tendencies to the middle.
Sliding up eight spots to No. 12, two-way Salisbury commit Noah Burroughs has been one of, if not the most impressive offensive talent across Delaware this spring. After battling an injury to begin the 2024 spring campaign, Burroughs has gone on to hit .648 with 5 home runs, 24 RBI, and 11 extra-base hits throughout his shortened season. A standout at our Unsigned Senior Games last summer, Burroughs was a late bloomer who flew under a plethora of college coaches' radars, however, this spring has certainly opened a ton of eyes throughout the Mid-Atlantic. Possessing explosive hands with a heavy barrel, the pull side power is advanced and the barrel feel is consistent for how much power the offensive ability has. Burroughs also ran the fastball up to 93 mph this spring for Sussex Central.
