Updated 2016 Maryland Rankings Released

Now with the winter behind us and the Maryland high school season underway across the state, what time better than now for an update to the Maryland player rankings. We begin today with the class of 2016 and again expand to now 150 players in the state. PBR Maryland continues to travel the land watching games and events in our never-ending attempt to identify talent across the Old Line state.

This most recent update has much movement from the top to bottom heading into this early season. Still holding the No. 1 spot as the Top Prospect is 1B/RHP Matt Mervis of Georgetown Prep. The Duke recruit showed off his talent at the Prep Baseball Report Super 60 in February solidifying that he is a legitimate two-way prospect both in the field and on the mound. The first mover in our rankings is RHP Elliot Zoellner of St. Mary’s HS now up to No. 2 in the state. The talented righty has been on plenty of scouts radars this spring with his easy delivery and explosive arm speed all the while still having room to grow down the road.    

Also moving up the chart is RHP Brandon Martin of Westminster HS. The long and lanky RHP is very interesting as a pitching prospect with plenty of projection for the future as he gets stronger. Anthony Felitti sits at No. 4 and has his sights on helping lead Gaithersburg back to the 4A state title.

Tyler Blohm moves into the top five after our most recent view of the Maryland recruit had an impressive performance that is documented in our Maryland Scout Blog. Rounding out the top ten include Michael Richardson, Ryan Brown, Dalton Stewart, and Jaret Bennett. Here is your first look at the top ten.
