Scouting Report
Preseason All-State Session I
Positional Profile: RHP/3B
Body: 6’2”, 185 pounds. Strong, solid, projectable frame.
Delivery: Starts with a quick, rocker step into a closed off chest high leg kick. Generates good rhythm and timing with his delivery. Shows solid extension, getting his chest out over his landing leg well. Arm plays well with his delivery, creating some deception. Lands in athletic fielding position.
Arm Action: RH. Throws downhill out of a mid three-quarter arm slot.
FB: T88 mph, 87-88 mph. Thrown with competitive fire, with cut action.
CB: 75-77 mph. Tight, 11/5 shape.
CH: 72-76 mph. Thrown consistently, with fade at the plate.
MD Top Prospect Games East
Solid body type and projectable 6’2’’, 185 pound frame. Up-tempo, side-step wind-up and high leg kick into a tall, slightly crouched, compact balance point. Smooth, downhill delivery with some lower half drive. Gets over front side well and lands square to the plate with an athletic finish. Clean hand separation and throws with long arm action from a high three-quarter slot with light effort. Creates quick arm speed through release and keeps the ball down in the zone. Fastball ranged 81-86 mph. Breaking ball was 73-76 mph with 11/5 shape and change-up showed some fade at 68-71 mph.
MD Preseason All State
Athletic projectable frame at 6-foot-1, 175-pounds. Side step delivery that showed pace and intent. Big leg kick with high balance point and gathered over the rubber before moving down the mound with shoulders elevated and driving off of the backside. Lands on line and balanced at finish. Shorter arm action with quick arm speed and throws from a high three-quarter arm slot. Fastball was firm, two seam showed distinct arm side run, and the fastball sat at 83-85 on the day, topping at 86 mph. Curveball had fastball arm speed with 12/6 break at 70-73 mph. Change-up showed late fade with present arm speed at 71-74 mph.
MD Top Prospect Games
Athletic, long, lankier body type and projectable 6-foot-1, 175 pound frame. Small side step wind-up and high leg kick to taller balance point. Clean separation and up tempo delivery. Average lower half involvement and quick arm speed. Shorter arm action and throws from both a high and low three-quarters arm slot with light effort. Lands square and finishes falling off slightly to the first base side. Fastball was 80-83 mph with some run. Breaking ball sat 67-69 mph with 12/6 shape and sharp break. Change-up was 71-72 with slight sink.
API Scout Day
Projectable frame with room to add on at 5-foot-10, 135-pounds. Hits from an open set up with high hands at head level. Short load moving hands to shoulder while getting a leg lift, squaring up to hitting position and slight arm bar. Level swing path at the plate with average bat speed. and shows some strength in swing. Nice lower half involvement. Exit velo of 70 mph. Sound actions at third base. Like to see on balls of feet more. Clean hands, more deliberate exchange to release, short and quick arm action across the infield. Shows arm strength with 76 mph position velo. Solid foundation as he adds strength. ---- On the mound has an nice paced temp in his delivery. Rocker step forward into high leg kick. Has a short quick arm action throwing from a high three quarter slot. Creates a quick arm with the short action. Gets average lower half involvement, more hip load and backside intent should translate into a velocity increase on top of his natural maturation. Fastball has slight run to the pitch up to 78 mph. Two seam gets some two plane action on the pitch. Breaking ball has short, 10/4 action on the pitch and shows swing and miss potential with near fastball arm speed. Change up has late fade and dive to the pitch. Shows potential with three pitch arsenal and one to keep an eye on as a pitching prospect.
