We continue our analysis breakdown of the Rawlings A's Prospects fall scout day. Below you will find out analysis on each player. Stay tuned as we continue throughout with more analysis breakdown.

Joey Downing OF Huntingtown 2020
Downing has an athletic 5-9 frame and hits from the left side. Good rhythm and smooth load back with a big leg kick stride. Good lower half and maintains balance throughout swing. Longer swing path, working uphill with good extension through the ball. Projects to have some pop to his pull side as he develops. Exit velocity off of the tee was 71. At first base, average hands and footwork, infield velocity was 65. Short arm action, throwing from a low three-quarters arm slot with a quick release. In the outfield, takes good routes, plays through the ball well. Quick, clean release, low three-quarters arm slot with a short, loose arm action, outfield velocity was 66.

Darius Gilliam SS DeMatha 2018
Gilliam has an athletic 6-1 frame with good speed, running a 6.65 60 yard dash and a 4.05 home to first time. Hits from the right side from an open, upright stance. Slight load back with a short leg kick stride. Good rhythm to his swing, decent lower half with good balance throughout swing. Shorter path with some extension through the ball and above-average batspeed, line drive swing with an exit velocity of 87, generates easy power. At shortstop, decent footwork and above-average hands with good rhythm. Three-quarters arm slot with a loose, quick arm, infield velocity of 79. Quick release and plays through the ball well. In the outfield, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a clean release velocity of 80. Good routes and plays through the ball well.

Peter Godrick OF Archbishop Spalding 2018
Godrick has an athletic 5-9 frame with a strong lower half. Decent speed with a 60 time of 6.76 and a home to first time of 4.38. Hits from the right side from an athletic stance with a wide base. Short leg kick stride and a smooth load back, good rhythm to the swing. Explosive hips and good balance throughout his swing, above average bat speed with an exit velocity of 89. Gap to gap approach with doubles power, short to the ball and good extension through his swing. In the outfield, takes good routes to the ball and plays through it well. Good footwork, quick clean release. Three-quarters arm slot with a loose arm, position velocity of 76.

Hunter Griebel RHP St. Mary’s 2020
Griebel is 5-11 and has an athletic frame. 60 time of 7.29. Athletic stance, short leg kick stride and smooth load back into a slight arm bar. Decent lower half, good balance throughout his swing. Line drive swing with a flat path and extension through the ball. Exit velocity was 69 off the tee. At third base average hands and footwork, short arm action that is loose, low three-quarters arm slot. In the outfield, plays through the ball well with a clean release, throwing from a higher arm slot. Position velocity at both was 72.

Jackson Halla C St. Mary’s 2020
Halla has an athletic 5-8 frame. Hits from the right side from an upright stance. Smooth load back, strides on line. Decent lower half and good balance throughout swing. Line drive swing with a longer path with extension through the ball. Good approach working gap to gap, exit velocity was 73. In the outfield, good footwork, quick clean release. High three-quarters arm slot with a loose arm action, position velocity was 72. Soft hands behind the plate. Clean exchange and release. Short arm action, low three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 62 and pop times were 2.31-2.38. 

Joe Harrington OF/RHP Severna Park 2020
Harrington is 6-0 tall with a lanky frame. Hits from the right side with an upright stance. No load with a short leg kick stride. Ok lower half with decent balance, short swing path, line drive swing with an exit velocity of 71. In the outfield, decent footwork, plays through the ball with a clean release. High three-quarters arm slot with a short, loose arm action, position velocity of 70. On the mound, has a tall and fall delivery. Short arm action with a high three-quarters arm slot. Shoulders are level and on line, strides out to a square landing with an athletic finish. Fastball was 68-70. Breaking ball had 11/5 break running 57-59 and has potential to be good as it tightens. Change-up was 56-58 and has fade with decent armspeed.

Chase Hilliard 2B St. Mary’s 2018
Hilliard has an athletic 5-11 frame. Runs a 7.08 60 yard dash. Hits from the right side with an upright stance. Smooth load back into a slight wrap, leg kick stride, with good rhythm. Good lower half and balance throughout his swing. Short swing with a quick bat, line drive approach, exit velocity was 81. In the infield, good footwork and soft hands, playing through the ball well. Clean exchange and release. Short arm action that is quick with a three quarters arm action. Above average arm strength with a position velocity of 80.

John Hilliard 1B DeMatha 2020
Hilliard is 5-6 and has an athletic frame. Hits from the right side with a wide base and an athletic stance. Short stride forward and smooth load back into a slight arm bar. Good rhythm and decent balance. Short to the ball, working slightly uphill with extension through the ball. Exit velocity off the tee was 74.

Nick Hopkins SS St. Mary’s 2018 (LaSalle)
Hopkins is 5-11 and has an athletic frame and good speed with a 60 time of 6.75 and a home to first of 4.10. From the right side, athletic stance, short leg kick stride and smooth load back. Fast bat, quick to the ball with good extension through it, exit velocity of 88. Explosive hips and bat speed. From the left side, same set-up, good balance, slightly uphill path. Exit velocity of 89. In the infield, good footwork and soft, fast hands. Three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action that is quick and loose and an above average arm that was 84 across the diamond.

Bradley Howell 2B/RHP St. Mary’s 2019
Howell has an athletic 5-8 frame with a stronger lower half. Athletic, open stance, short stride and a smooth load back, good rhythm. Explosive hips and good balance through the swing. Short to the ball and a quick bat, exit velocity of 74. Gap to gap approach with a line drive swing. In the infield, ok footwork and soft hands. Short arm action with a high three-quarters arm slot, position velocity of 70. On the mound, drop and drive delivery, throwing from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action. Shoulders are level and on line as he strides to a square landing with an athletic finish. Fastball sat 68-70, touching 72 with some late run and sink. Curveball had 11/5 break running 53-54. Change-up had decent armspeed and fading action, running 62-64.

Ryan Jack RHP/SS Severn 2018
Jack is 6-2 with an athletic frame and ran a 7.33 60 with a 4.32 home to first time. Hits from the left side with an upright athletic stance. Short leg kick stride and smooth load back. Good lower half and good balance throughout swing. Quick hands, short to the ball, exit velocity of 77. At shortstop, average footwork and soft hands. Clean exchange, working through the ball. Low three-quarters arm slot with a short, loose arm action, velocity of 79. On the mound, throws from a drop and drive delivery with a long, loose arm action and a low three-quarters arm slot. Shoulders are uphill and closed as he strides to a square landing with an athletic finish. Fastball sat 80-81 with late sink and run to it. Slider was 64-66 with late 10/4 action. Change-up had good armspeed and was 73-74 with sink. 

Ryan Krohn RHP/SS Mount St. Joseph’s 2020
Krohn is 6-2 and has a lanky frame and ran a 4.42 home to first. He hits from the left side with a wide, athletic stance. He has a toe tap stride and loads back into a slight wrap. Decent lower half and balance throughout his swing. Longer swing half with a pull approach, working uphill. Exit velocity of 65. In the infield, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a short, loose arm action, position velocity of 70. On the mound, throws from a tall and fall delivery with a short arm action and a high three-quarters arm slot. Shoulders are uphill and on line as he strides to a square landing with an athletic finish. Fastball sat 68-70 with downward plane. Curveball was 53-55 with 11/5 break. Change-up was 57-59 with fading action.

Mark Lettieri 2B Mount Hebron 2018
Lettieri is 5-9 with a lankier athletic frame, he ran a 7.28 60. Hits from the right side with a balanced, athletic stance. Smooth load back and short leg kick stride, good rhythm to swing. Explosive hips and good balance to swing, quick bat. Fast hands with a short path to the ball and extension through it, exit velocity was 78 off of the tee. In the infield, good wide base and footwork with soft hands, clean exchange and release. Throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action, positional velocity was 70.

Ben Looper RHP/1B Oakland Mills 2019
Looper is 5-11 with a strong lower half. He hits from the right side from an athletic stance. Leg kick stride with no load, explosive hips with average balance throughout the swing. Quick bat, short to the ball with good extension through it and some power potential. Exit velocity was 86. Footwork is fine at first base with average hands, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a position velocity of 73. On the mound, throws from a drop and drive delivery with a short, quick arm action and a three-quarters arm slot. Shoulders are closed and slightly uphill, strides to a square landing with a fall off finish. Fastball sat 74-76 with some late run. Change-up was 70-73 with good armspeed and sinking action. Curveball has late 12/6 break, running 65-68 with good armspeed.

Ryan Looper OF Oakland Mills 2019
Looper is 5-8 and has an athletic frame with a strong lower half, ran a 7.15 60 and was 4.30 home to first. Hits from the right side from an open athletic stance. Smooth load back into a wrap with a short stride that stays open. Some balance throughout his swing, longer swing with an uphill path and pull approach, exit velocity of 77. In the outfield, plays through the ball with a clean release. Throws from a high-three quarters arm slot with a short, quick, loose arm action. Above average arm with a lot of upside, position velocity of 82. On the mound, smooth drop and drive delivery, longer arm action that is quick from a high three-quarters arm slot. Shoulders are closed and slightly uphill as he strides to a slightly closed landing with a fall off finish. Fastball sat 74-76, touching 77 with slight late run. Slider was 64-66 with good arm speed and late 10/4 action. Change-up was 69-71 with good armspeed.

Jalen March OF Archbishop Curley 2018
March is 5-10 with a strong, athletic frame and decent speed, running a 7.06 60 and a 4.46 home to first. He hits from the left size from an athletic stance. Short leg kick stride with minimal load. Good lower half and balance throughout his swing. Short path to the ball with very good extension through it. Pull approach with power potential, exit velocity was 84. In the outfield, gets behind the ball well and works through it. Release is clean, throwing from a high three-quarters arm slot with short arm action and a loose, quick arm, position velocity was 83.

Casey Marshall SS Southern 2019
Marshall is 5-11 with a lankier athletic frame, home to first time of 4.44. Hits from the right side with an open, athletic stance. Leg kick stride with a short load back with a wrap. Ok lower half and decent balance throughout swing. Uphill swing path with extension through the ball and a pull approach, exit velocity was 74. In the infield, good footwork with a nice wide base and soft hands. Short arm action and a high three-quarters arm slot, positional velocity of 74.

Garrett Meckley C 2020
Meckley is 6-1 with an athletic frame. He hits from the right side from an athletic stance. Short leg kick stride with a short load back, good rhythm to his swing. Good lower half and balance throughout his swing. Short to the ball with extension through it. Line drive swing now with the potential for power to develop, exit velocity of 76. At first base, decent footwork and soft hands, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a positional velocity of 69. Behind the plate, nice wide base with good hands receiving. Gains ground on a quick release, short arm action with a low three-quarters arm slot, position velocity of 68 and pop times ranging 2.21-2.30.

Sam Merchant C St. Mary’s 2020
Merchant is 5-5 with a lanky frame and a home to first time of 4.58. Hits from the right side from an athletic stance, leg kick stride and short load back. Ok lower half and decent balance throughout swing. Short path to the ball with extension through it, exit velocity of 68 and a pull approach. In the infield, quick footwork and soft hands. Throws from a three-quarters arm slot, infield velocity of 65. Behind the plate, soft hands, gains ground on a quick release, short arm action from a three-quarters arm slot. Catching velocity of 63 with pop times running 2.33-2.40.

Garrett Moore 2B Severna Park 2020
Moore is 5-8 with a lanky, athletic frame and ran a 4.62 home to first. He hits from the right side from an open athletic stance. Short stride on line with a short load back. Explosive lower half and good balance throughout his swing. Longer swing path that is level with extension through the ball and a pull approach, exit velocity was 66. In the infield, average footwork with a nice wide base and soft hands. Low three-quarters arm slot with a short, loose arm action, position velocity of 65.

Branden Munnelly 2B DeMatha 2020
Munnelly is 5-4 with an athletic frame. He hits from the right side from an athletic stance with a slight crouch. Short toe tap stride with a slight load back. Decent lower half and above average balance throughout his swing. Short bat path that works uphill with extension through the ball and a slightly pull approach, exit velocity is 65. In the infield, quick feet and a good wide base with soft hands. Low three-quarters arm slot and with a short, loose arm action, infield velocity of 66. In the outfield, takes a decent route and plays through the ball with a clean release. High three-quarters arm slot with a short, loose arm action, and a positional velocity of 67. 

Will Munnelly OF Broadneck 2018
Munnelly is 5-11 with a lanky frame and ran a 7.28 60 yard dash as well as a 4.53 home to first. He hits from the left side from a balanced, athletic stance. Strides on line forward and has a smooth load back with good rhythm to his swing. Explosive hips and good balance throughout his swing. Quick bat and is short to the ball with extension through it, works slightly uphill with a pull approach, exit velocity of 71. Good footwork in the outfield, works behind the ball well and plays through it. High three-quarters arm slot with a short, loose arm action, position velocity was 78.

Jaden Pinkney OF CH Flowers 2018
Pinkney is 6-0 tall with a lankier athletic frame and ran a 4.39 home to first. Hits from the right side from an athletic stance, smooth back load with a short leg kick stride. Decent lower half and good balance. Short to ball with uphill path through it and decent extension, exit velocity was 73. In the infield, quick feet and soft hands. Three quarters arm slot with a long arm action, position velocity of 71. In the outfield, gets behind the ball well and plays through it with a clean release. High three-quarters arm slot with an outfield velocity of 71.

Timmy Pyne 1B DeMatha 2018
Pyne is 6-4 with an athletic frame and a strong lower half. He hits from the left side from an athletic stance with a leg kick stride and a smooth load back. Decent hips with good balance throughout the swing. Quick bat with a level swing and great extension through the ball, exit velocity was 87 off of the tee.
