Q&A with Salisbury University Commit Nick Forbush

Parkside HS senior Nick Forbush committed to Salisbury University.  He was kind enough to take time out for PBR Maryland and let us all get to know him better. 

Why did you choose Salisbury?
+ I wanted to go to a college that was close to home and had a history of winning. Salisbury seemed like the best choice to match this criteria.I also like Coach Browhan's style of coaching. A lot of players that are currently on the team like the way he leads the team and I feel like I will feel the same.

What other schools were you considering?
+ The other schools that I was considering the most were Towson, Old Dominion, and McDaniel.

Now that your commitment is over, what are your goals for your senior year?
+ My goals for my senior year are to win a state championship with my teammates and to grow as athlete, leader, and individual.

What would you like to get accomplished before you step on campus at Salisbury?
+ Most importantly, I want to make sure that I graduate. I also want to train and prepare myself in any way to put myself in the best position I can to help Salisbury University.

What are you looking forward to the most about Salisbury?
+ I am most ready to meet many new people and continue to mature and grow in the college atmosphere.

Who did you play for over the summer and what was your most memorable experience?
+ In the summer I played for Allen Haines and the Mid Atlantic Red Sox. My most memorable experience with the Red Sox was playing at the World Wood Bat tournament. Playing in front of all of the scouts and playing against some of the best competition in the world was a very exciting yet humbling experience.

Who has been the most influential person over your baseball career and why?
+ The most influential person to me in my baseball career has been my father. Ever since I was a little kid, my dad has been there to help me in any way that he can. He is always willing to throw with me, catch me, and throw batting practice. He is like a coach to me and I wouldn't be the baseball player or person that I am today if it wasn't for him.

Who is your favorite MLB player and why?
+ My favorite MLB player is Nick Markakis. When I was a little kid, I wanted to be like him. He is a very fun player to watch and he gives 100% every time he steps on the field. I have always wore #21 because of him. Even though he left the Orioles and is on the Braves, I still follow him and hope he will come back one day.

What are you going to bring to Salisbury as a freshman?
+ As a freshman I am going to be a player that tries my best to lead by example. This means that I will give 100% every time I step on the field, although that time may be slim my freshman year, and I will be a good teammate.

What is your goal by the end of your freshman year?  By the end of your college career?
+ By the end of my freshman year, I want my players and coaches to see me as a player they can rely on when I step on the field and be a valuable role player. By the end of my college career I would love to be a valuable piece of the puzzle that would help lead the Gulls to a successful postseason run.

Random question:  What is your favorite movie and favorite follow on twitter?             
+ My favorite movie of all time has to be the Benchwarmers. My teammates and I quote that movie all of the time in games and practice. My favorite follow has to be my teammate Hunter Parsons @hunt_parsons13.
