Prospect Watch lists top specific players that are still available in the state. We will cover positional breakdowns as well as tools throughout the summer. This edition of Prospect Watch is on some of the top 2016 infielders that are still available in the state. Included in this will be a short description of the player.
TOP 2016 INFIELDERS AVAILABLE (alphabetical order)
Kyle Benjamin SS Bishop McNamara
5-foot-11 165-pounds. Fluid actions and footwork. Quick exchange and gets rid of the ball. Short and quick swing. Has some rhythm at the plate. Foundations to grow. 77 mph across the diamond, exit velocity of 81.
Joe Hall SS DeMatha
Hall has clean actions with a fluid exchange. Quick and active feet. Short swing stays inside the ball very well. Simple approach at the plate with some rhythm. Handles the bat. 76 mph velocity across the diamond and 76 mph exit velocity. 4.53 home to first time.
David Harding SS Archbishop Spalding
Very athletic middle infielder. Fast exchange and gets rid of the baseball. Throws across the diamond have some carry on them. Raw athlete. Quick hands at the plate, can get out of balance at times, but a lot to like from the middle infielder. Plays slot receiver during football season.
Jordan Hutchins SS Dover (DE)
Fluid actions in the middle. Quick and confident first step. Athletic frame at 5-foot-10 175-pounds. Simple set up at the plate with quick hands and short swing. Fluid actions and some arm strength across the diamond. 83 mph velocity, 88 mph exit velocity, reportedly in the 6.7 range with 60 time.
Bruce Pattishall Jr. SS Paint Branch
Interesting prospect. Nice set up at the plate. Slightly open stance showed some bat speed. Fluid actions and clean exchange. Has some arm strength across the diamond.
Michael Richardson SS Cambridge South Dorchester
Currently ranked No. 7 in the state rankings, Richardson has range from the shortstop position. Quick bat and solid foundation offensively. 6.8 runner, 82 across the diamond, and 85 mph exit velocity. Athletic frame at 6-foot-165-pounds, wide shoulders with room to fill out.
