Scouting Report

PBR Future Games 8/1/18

Imposing frame with room to add to it at 6-foot-4, 220-pounds. An athletic, power hitting first baseman who will provide a dangerous bat in the middle of a lineup. Hits from a slightly crouched and open athletic set up. Higher leg kick load to hitting position slightly closed. Hands are direct to the ball with long uphill finish wanting to elevate the baseball. Good lower half with hip explosion. Shows nice balance and rhythm at the plate with a seemingly effortless swing. Generates pull side pop naturally now and should evolve to all fields. Exit velocity was 89 mph with a wooden bat. Athletic around the bag at first. Clean hands and footwork, knows the position and plays it at a high level. A top bat in the region and one to follow down the road.

Preseason All State 2/18/18

Physical frame with room for more strength at 6-foot-4, 220-pounds. Hits from an athletic, slightly open set up at the plate with hands above shoulders. Uphill path wanting to elevate the baseball with fast bat speed. Power is present to pull side that should develop to all fields down the road. 95 mph exit velocity. Impressive offensive foundation at the plate. Sound actions defensively. Clean footwork to release. no wasted movements. Clean on the turns in double play situations. 77 mph across the diamond.

Fall Invite 11/4/17

Has added strong base to his already athletic 6-foot-4, 210-pound frame. Turning himself into a higher level offensive prospect in Maryland's 2020 class. Hits from an open set up at the plate. Involved leg kick n load, nice blanace at landing and works lower half into swing. Shorter, direct swing path at the plate with bat speed. Nice repeat-ability. Showed pop to pull side and should continue to develop pop at the plate. Would like to see him show ability to drive more consistently to oppo gap. Sound footwork around the bag at first base, got flat footed at times, did show more active feet at third base, would like to see more reps there to make more complete corner prospect. ---- Nice tempo in quick delivery with strong leg kick. Longer arm action throwing from high three quarter slot. Fan of his delivery up to release point, but would like to see more lower half involvement and intent through and after release, should be more in the tank there. Pitches with regular effort. Fastball shows some sink to the pitch up to 81 mph. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape at 67 mph. Change up had fade at 70 mph. More rawness on mound, don't count out two way potential depending on program.

API Scout Day 9/9/17

Strong projectable frame at 6-foot-4, 205-pounds. Moylan is quickly turning himself into one of the more interesting 2020 prospects in the state and into a dangerous offensive weapon. Hits from the left side in an athletic/ open set up. Big leg kick into load to hitting position. More of a barrel flick with his hands in load to keep rhythm. Hands are free at the plate, shorter path and uphill finish, wanting to drive the ball, which he was able to show during his BP session. Nice extension through contact. Exit velocity of 88 mph. Solid actions at first base. Like to see on balls of feet more defensively to get more smooth. Clean exchange and smooth release from a low three quarter slot.

2.19.17 - (Underclass Preview) Very sturdy, athletic build for his age at 6-foot-2, 203 pounds. Hits from an low, open stance with a leg kick that lands before the back hip explodes. Good load in the hands and on the backside. Tends to stand up before making contact, wants to lift the baseball. Fluid looking swing with solid contact, exit velocity 86 mph. Shows athletic movements in the field. Clean hands with a smooth glove and quick feet. Has a sidearm release and forces the release with the upper body. Position exit velocity 75 mph. Over the top arm angle with consistent arm speed. Fastball was straight with not much movement, curveball was 12-6 with slight sweeping action, and the changeup tended to drop out of the zone. Overall a prospect to definitely keep an eye on as he matures and fills out even more.

1.21.17 (Freshmen Free Showcase) - Strong frame at 6-foot-2, 203-pounds. Ran a 4.42 home to first. Hits from a crouched athletic set up. Smooth load with balance to hitting position. Nice rhythm throughout. Shorter path with ability to drive ball and fast bat speed. Nice extension through contact. Pop to pull side and looks to develop power potential throughout. 86 mph exit velocity. Clean actions at the corner, good footwork on double plays. Shorter arm action throwing across. 70 mph infield velocity.
