Scouting Report
PBR Future Games 8/1/18
Projectable lanky frame at 6-foot-5, 183-pounds. Quick compact delivery to high leg kick that generates. Shows feel for his lower half and gets backside involvement, still room for more. Good job clearing from hip getting over front side. Loose arm action with quick arm speed throwing from a low three-quarter slot. Quiet finished square to the plate. Fastball shows later life on the pitch with run and sink up to 86 mph that ranged 81-85 mph. Breaking ball showed potential as a swing and miss pitch with 12/6 action with gradual break at 74 mph. Showed ability to throw a better late action breaking ball in game with swing and miss potential. Changeup had run to the pitch at 75 mph. Both off-speed pitches he does slow down slightly. In his outing Showed flashes on dominance and very tough on hitters to pick up. Nice tempo in games, but at times almost worked too fast which got him out of sync. Battled and was able to pitch himself out of jams making big pitches. High ceiling arm who has potential to be a special arm with his size, slot, and arm speed.
MD Scout Blog 5/17/18
A long and lanky frame that screams projection (6-foot-5, 175-pounds). Garnett has the potnetial to be a special pitching prospect and should be ranked very high once the MD 2021 rankings come out soon. There are a lot of moving parts in his up-tempo delivery slightly closed off and high leg kick. Garnett has a loose and quick arm action throwing from a low almost side slot. Fastball gets arm side run on the pitch to both sides of the plate. Fastball ranged from 79-84 and touched 85 in the fourth inning. Breaking ball shows put away potential but is inconsistent at the time. ranged from 66-74 mph. Slower ones were more get-ahead pitches and when he threw it in the 72 range, he had later break and did a few back-foot breaking balls on strikeouts. Showed feel for change up in warm ups, but did not see in game.
MD Preseason All-State 2/18/18
Long and lanky projectable frame at 6-foot-5, 185-pounds. Smooth build up style delivery with nice tempo and low hands that come up with lift. Involved high leg kick into hip load. Smooth lower half with average involement but foundation for more. Gets over front side well and works hips through. Loose arm action throwing from a lower three quarter slot. Creates fast arm speed that shows should make a nice velocity jump as he progresses. Bullpen was thrown with nice sync throughout. Fastball showed later run and sink to the pitch up to 81. Breaking ball had gradual action with 1/7 shape on the pitch. Shows potential to get better. Change up had fade to the pitch and showed feel with fastball arm speed. Potential to be an impressive arm coming out of the 2021 class.
