The Maryland Insider covers a wide variety of information on players in the state. We will cover events, players to watch, rankings, best in class, and many more topics that will cover the many levels of high school baseball.

The Super 60 has a great tradition of bringing in top prospects for scouts to see before the spring season begins and every year that talent grows as more states are added to the PBR coverage area. This year was no different. More than 70 of the top players from the coverage area received the opportunity of a lifetime: to perform with their peers in front of dozens of scouts. Many players stood out and will be discussed even further by our national scouting staff in future articles on the web site.

With it being so new to the fold, PBR Maryland was not represented at the 2015 event. That should change dramatically in 2016. Here are some players that could be invited to next year???s Super 60.

Anthony Felitti, LHP, Gaithersburg
The Virginia recruit is already getting some whispers about the 2016 draft. Southpaws are always a specialty when it comes to drafts and Felitti could easily be a player to make a statement at the next Super 60.

Matt Mervis, IF, Georgetown Prep
Mervis is a special player in the state of Maryland, showing overall great athletic ability and he should be one of the highest ranked position players in the state. There are a lot of reasons to like Mervis as a position player, but then you add a 90 mph fastball and you have something special. The Duke recruit will be one to follow this season.

Elliot Zoellner, RHP, St. Mary???s
Zoellner is one of the top uncommitted pitchers in the state showing good velocity with a great frame. After doing his velocity training with Jamie Evans, he will be sure to get some followers early in the high school season.

Nick Pantos, RHP, Gaithersburg
Another Gaithersburg pitcher, Pantos is committed to Maryland and has also lit up some radar guns. Part of a special one-two punch at Gaithersburg, Pantos could be another player to don a Super 60 jersey.

Tyler Blohm, LHP, Archbishop Spalding
Blohm will be part of a great staff at Archbishop Spalding, showing mature pitchability with a projectable frame. Another Maryland commit, Blohm???s body and ability could add to the Maryland representation.

WILDCARDS
OF Nate Bosse (Calvert Hall) and OF Matt Smith (Parkside) are a couple of wild cards to keep an eye on. Power is one tool that can separate hitters and a commodity scouts are always on the lookout for. Both Bosse and Smith have power and could move up the charts as the 2015 season progresses. While the Super 60 is largely focused on seniors with draft potential, some select underclassmen are invited to give scouts a sneak peek at the year ahead. RHP Kieran Garner (River Hill) has already been up to 88 mph this winter with some feel for a changeup so he could be one of those advanced underclassmen to be in the conversation.
