The Maryland Notebook is an all-encompassing blurb about thoughts from the high school season, summer season, fall ball, etc.
The inaugural Top Prospect Games for PBR Maryland was a great success. 50 talented players in the Maryland / Delaware area were in attendance to showcase their skills and ability. After a day to dissect, here are some early quick hits that came to mind from the event.
+2016 middle infield class was well represented on this day. Michael Richarson had another solid day showing his fielding ability along with good bat speed. Other 2016’s that stood out in the infield were Kyle Benjamin, Joe Hall, and Jordan Hutchins. Hutchins was the lone 2016 Delaware representative and showed some athletic actions along with good arm strength across the diamond.
+Power was on display as multiple players put a hurting into the baseball during the batting practice portion of the workout. A few that stood out were David Larson, Bryce Rogers-Black, and LaVale Hodges.
+Speaking of which, thought Hodges had a very nice workout. The 2016 outfielder had a 4.4 home to first, 84 mph arm from the outfield and a 91 mph exit velocity. Nice athlete to keep an eye out for
+2017 Jack Roberts showed an advanced approach at the plate with bat speed and power potential at the plate along with clean actions in the field. Maybe projects more on the corner, but a lot to like out of the prospect.
+The 2017 class stood out with talent players across the board. John Andreoli ,Joseph Haass, Eric Lansinger , Jordan Marvel,Jacob Paulishak, Miguel Rivera, and Connor Shockley are just a few of the players to keep an eye on.
+Thought there was a lot of potential in young catchers Evan Blum (2017) and Trent Gast-Woodard (2018). Both showed tools and played better as the day went on.
+Keep an eye out for 2019 Chris Chaney. The young right-handed pitcher topped out at 82 mph showing some arm speed and pitch ability.
+Overall there was a strong pool of players that could help at multiple levels of college baseball combined with a nice crop of young talent to keep on radars down the road. Stay tuned next week for follow up from the event.
