23 players from the Old Line State and Delaware in the 2023-2025 graduating classes came to the Harford Sports Complex on March 3rd for our first Junior Future Games Trials of 2019. PBR Maryland staff was on hand to putting the players through a workout to evaluate them for a possible invitation to this summer's Junior Future Games at the LakePoint Sporting Community in Cartersville, Georgia. Below are some quick notes on several players that stood out from the event.

MICHAEL CURETON SS / RHP / MORNINGSIDE, MD / 2024Strong, physical frame at 5’8’’, 175 pounds. Switch hitter with power present from both sides of the plate. Hits from a wide base with a rock back load and no stride from the right side. Open stance and more natural movements from the left side. Short to the ball from the left side with a level swing path. Recorded an event best 79 mph exit velocity and also threw 71 mph across the diamond in the infield. |
CHASE FLEMING LHP / OF / APPOQUNINMIK , DE / 2023Athletic body type and 5’4’’, 120 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, athletic, slightly open stance at the plate. Slight toe tap into a medium sized leg kick load. Attacks the ball with intent and showed quick bat speed and a strong finish. Gap-to-gap line drive type hitter now with some pop. Recorded a 74 mph exit velocity. Controlled wind-up with a high leg kick into a tall, compact balance point. Smooth delivery and long arm action. Pounded the zone with a fastball that touched 71 mph and split-finger that had nasty late arm-side fade at 62-64 mph. Breaking ball had tight spin and some 12/6 action at 57-61 mph. |
