The Maryland Insider covers a wide variety of information on players in the state. We will cover events, players to watch, rankings, best in class, and many more topics that will cover the many levels of high school baseball.

The first event for PBR Maryland was a tremendous success.  Just under 60 talented players came to the Diamond Pros facility in Glen Arm, MD and overcame the weather to show off their ability.  Today we talk about the top performers in the 2016 and 2015 class (In Alphabetical Order)

Jarret Bennet LHP Col. Richardson 2016
Bennet put on another good bullpen session at the ID, showing off his athletic delivery and good arm action. He showed good feel for his breaking ball as well. His performance at the Preseason ID earned him a ranking in the overall Top 400 in the PBR rankings.

Ryan Brown OF St. James 2016
The young outfielder showed off impressive tools at the Preseason ID showing a nice swing and good overall athletic ability defensively.  With a 6.8 60 yard dash and 86 mph exit velocity, Brown made a strong case for the MD overall rankings for 2106 class.

Nathaniel Lowe OF Cambridge South Dorchester 2016
Lowe made one of the biggest statements of the event coming on the scene with the best 60 yard dash (6.73) and the best exit velocity (88 mph). The athletic outfielder displayed good actions defensively and a short swing at the plate on his way to earning a rank in the overall Top 400 in PBR rankings.

Jordan Menfee RHP Archbishop Curley 2015
The big RHP instantly had a presence on the mound with his imposing frame.  One the mound Menfee showed great arm strength as he sat 87-89 mph.  The Northern Kentucky commit could get some pro interest if he can develop his off-speed pitches more consistently.

Dalton Morgan RHP Clear Springs 2015
Morgan showed a good frame and pounded the strike zone with all three of his pitches.  He topped out at 85 mph with a clean and repeatable delivery.  The uncommitted arm would be a good spring pickup for a program. 

Brady O’Neil C St. Mary’s 2016
O’Neil showed his athletic ability behind the plate, showing good footwork and the best catcher velocity at 76 mph.  A nice short swing, O’Neil had an exit velocity of 85 mph off the tee.  O’Neil also was 85 mph on the mound.

Alex Parker RHP/C McDonogh 2016
Parker is a great catcher in the McDonogh program, but made his mark as a pitcher at the Preseason ID.  A good frame and strong body, Parker showed he had more in his tank and is an arm to keep an eye on.

Michael Richardson SS Cambridge South Dorchester 2016
The athletic and smooth fielding shortstop put on a great performance at the Preseason ID.  A 6.88 60 yard dash, good actions in the infield, and a nice compact swing earned him status in the overall PBR Top 400. 

Elliot Zoellner RHP St. Mary’s 2016
A strong performance on the mound, Zoellner sat 87 and topped out at 89 mph at the MD ID in his third bullpen of the year.  The righty showed a clean delivery and great arm action.  Very projectable body, Zoellner solidified his ranking in the Top 400.
