The Maryland Insider covers a wide variety of information on players in the state. We will cover events, players to watch, rankings, best in class, and many more topics that will cover the many levels of high school baseball.

The first event for PBR Maryland was a tremendous success.  Just under 60 talented players came to the Diamond Pros facility in Glen Arm, MD and overcame the weather to show off their ability.  Today we talk about the top performers in the 2017 class (In Alphabetical Order)

Grant Burleson, LHP Parkside
On the mound Burleson displayed great arm speed, pitching at 84-86 with more projected to come.  The athletic LHP showed feel for his off-speed pitches during his bullpen session, one of his first of 2015.  He made a strong case for himself in the 2017 Maryland Player rankings.

Kieran Garner, RHP/3B River Hill
Garner came to the ID and once again put on another good performance.  The powerful RHP sat 86-88 from a high-3/4 arm slot.  He has good break on his breaking ball and has shown good feel for the change-up.  Good size already (6-foot-2, 195-pounds) and should fill out nicely.

Matthew Glady, RHP Severna Park
The young Glady is long and lanky right now at 6-foot 145-pounds.  He showed a short quick arm action pitching at 83 mph with good projection.  He had a sharp curveball with big break.  He will be a prospect to watch during the 2015 season.

Jacob Paulishak, SS/MIF/RHP Middletown
Lots of raw ability from this young 2017, Paulishak showed good ability with a projectable frame (6-foot-2 175-pounds). On the mound he topped out at 82 mph with good sink.  As a position player he ran a 7.3 60 time with exit velocity of 82 mph.  He had good balance at the plate and showed line drive ability with some power potential.   

Zach Putman, SS/RHP Mt. St. Joseph
Putman showed plenty of potential as a position player at the Preseason ID.  He had a short, compact swing with good rhythm and balance. Defensively he displayed good actions and should be a player to keep an eye on. As he grows he should build upon his 76 mph exit velocity and 73 mph velocity from the infield.       

Connor Shockley, 3B/RHP Parkside
Another Parkside HS product, Shockley showed good speed (7.09 60 yard dash) and mobility in the infield while throwing across the infield at 78 mph.  His short swing with quick hands show projected gap-to-gap power with an exit velocity of 78.  On the mound, he topped out at 82 mph.
