The Maryland Fall Invite was held on Saturday, November 4th at Mount St. Mary's University. An impressive day overall with talented individuals on display for us on the day. After giving a few days to settle, here are our initial thoughts from the event.

It was another solid day for talented 2019 catching prospect, Clark Burroughs. The DeMatha Catholic prospect showed offensive pop at the plate to all fields with a great ability to drive the ball deep to the opposite gap. His 95 mph exit velocity was an event best. Burroughs also showed an accurate and strong arm from behind the plate with a pop time as low as 1.99.

McDonough 3B/RHP 2020 Kyle Whitaker also had one of the more impressive overall workouts on the day. A strong rhight handed hitter, Whitaker showed some raw power to the pull side of the field with bat speed. He showed sound actions at third base and more than likely projects as a first baseman down the road, but could be an intriguing prospect with his athleticism as he shapes his imposing 6-foot-2, 225-pound frame.

Young 2021 3B/C Brandon M Bradshaw of CH Flowers again showed advanced ability at the plate with free hands and bat speed while showing nice balance and rhythm throughout his swing. Not sure where defensively he will end up, but the young man is showing to be a nice prospect to keep an eye on.

2020 1B Joshua Moylan (Archbishop Spalding) again showed why he should be considered one of the top offensive prospects in the 2020 class with his power presence from the left side. Moylan again showed consistent ability to barrel the baseball and drive to the pull side. He also took groundballs at third base as well as first. Moylan then got on the mound and showed some potential with a fastball up to 81 mph.

2019 Old Mill SS Xander Waddell shows athletic actions from the shortstop position along with ability to be a true switch-hitting candidate at the next level. Footspeed will play an important role in his development.

Keep an eye on 2020 RHP Mason Satterfield who is developing very well heading into the winter. Showed a quick arm and had some life on his ball that was 82 mph on the day. Would not be surprised to see the James Madison (VA) righty make a jump before the summer of next year.

2019 RHP John Torroella of Mount St. Joseph looks to be progressing well agains showing a quick arm with pitch ability on the day. Torroella topped out at 83 on the day and is another I would not be surprised to see making a jump heading into the spring season.

2019 Matthew Rodriguez (Delmar, DE)has the makings of two way potential depending on the program with ability at the plate and a fastball up to 83 on the mound...Like seeing the development of 2019 LHP Jack Colagiovanni (John Carroll) is showing nice development, increasing his fastball at a firm 78 mph and showing pitch ability...very interesting prospect in 2019 LHP Bryson Shaffer of Brunswick HS. Throws from a low angle with crossfire delivery that would release behind a left handed hitter. Showed nice feel of his breaking ball up to 69 mph. Topped out at 77mph and is one to keep an eye on that could add a nice piece to a bullpen...2020 C Jackson Halla (Broadneck) continues to be developing well, showing accurate throws from behind the plate getting as low as 2.18 with consistent and accurate throws. Also presents a nice target for pitchers and shows offensive potential...Strong workouts on the day from Gavin Umphries (South River), Ian Adams (Old Mill), and Jeremiah Alterman (Bethesda-Chevy Chase).
