The Freshmen Free Showcase was held on Saturday, January 21 at Athletic Performance Inc in Gambrills, MD. The event was for Freshmen only and featured players from across the state. We began the evaluation process with our Stats Story and Early Thoughts.
Today we break down video from the event with the corner infield analysis.
Top Performers
Drew Dameron 3B Magruder 2020
Projectable, athletic frame at 5-foot-11, 160-pounds. Ran 4.36 home to first. Hits from an athletic set up. Smooth load to hitting position. Slight arm bar into hitting position. Longer, level swing path and creates quick bat speed that looks to generate. Power potential at the plate. Nice rhythm throughout. Creates quick bat speed. Exit velocity of 82 mph. Sound actions, clean exchange. Longer arm action throwing from a high ¾ slot. Infield velo of 66 mph. Good foundation under and one to keep an eye on.
Joshua Moylan 1B Archbishop Spalding 2020
Strong frame at 6-foot-2, 203-pounds. Ran a 4.42 home to first. Hits from a crouched athletic set up. Smooth load with balance to hitting position. Nice rhythm throughout. Shorter path with ability to drive ball and fast bat speed. Nice extension through contact. Pop to pull side and looks to develop power potential throughout. 86 mph exit velocity. Clean actions at the corner, good footwork on double plays. Shorter arm action throwing across. 70 mph infield velocity.

Projectable, 6-foot-1, 165-pound frame. Ran a 4.22 home to first. Hits from a tall open setup. Short load to hitting position, closes off slightly. Shorter swing path and shows some extension. Hands work well at the plate. Could get better balance and control load a bit more which should happen as he gets strong and grows into his longer frame. Exit velo of 76 mph. Sound actions in the field with smooth exchange. Shorter arm action throwing from a high ¾ slot. Infield velo of 66 mph.
Cole McGee LHP/1B Dulaney 2020
Long projectable frame at 6-foot-3, 170-pounds. Ran a 4.64 home to first. Hits from a tall set up. Works hands back to stride into hitting position. Level bat path with average bat speed. Showed some power potential at the plate. Barrelled ball well during BP. Pull type hitter. Shows potential once he fills out lanky frame. 78 mph exit velocity. ACtive feet in the infield, clean exchange with a short arm action. 67 mph infield velo.
Connor Thompson RHP/1B Westminster 2020
Lanky, projectable frame at 6-foot, 150-pounds. Ran a 4.44 home to first. Hits from an athletic set up. Short quick stride to hitting position. Shorter, level bat path with average bat speed. Gets some lower half usage, could get more with better balance. Potential as he fills out frame. Exit velocity of 78 mph. Sound actions from first. Shorter quick arm action throwing from a high ¾ slot. Nice footwork on turns, showed good balance. 73 mph infield velocity .
Conor Walsh 1B Wootton 1B 2020
Projectable frame at 6-foot, 160-pounds. Ran a 4.18 home to first. Hits from a square stance. Short load, drops hands, short leg kick. Shows some rhythm, could incorporate more. Shorter swign path with quick hands and slight uphill path. Shows bats speed and potential for more. Showed better rhythm as round went on. Gap-to-gap ability. 76 mph exit velo. Athletic actions in the field. Stayed low, active feet, clean exchange. Shorter arm action from a ¾ slot. 70 mph infield velocity.
Champ Wert 3B/RHP St. Mary's 2020
Solid frame at 6-foot, 220-pound. Ran a 4.88 home to first. Hits from a square athletic set up. Lowers hands in load with leg kick. Level swing path with average bat speed. Slight uphill through contact. Gets some lower half usage. 71 mph exit velocity. Active feet in the field. Clean hands and exchange. Spins a bit on throw, could keep direction with throw. 65 mph infield velo.
