After traveling the Old Line State corner-to-corner and several times over this spring through our "Boots on the Ground" approach to scouting, today we bring you our final update to the Class of 2021 rankings. On behalf of everyone here at PBR Maryland we want to extend our congratulations to everyone across the state for your accomplishments both on and off the field and wish you all the very best in the next chapter of your life and careers. It has been a tremendous pleasure meeting, getting to know personally, and watching all of you grow and develop over the past four-plus years. Your impact on baseball in this state will never be forgotten and we look forward to continuing to follow each and every one of you! 

With that said, we begin at the top with our 2021 PBR Maryland Player of the Year, Peter Heubeck. The Gilman righty and University of Wake Forest signee has a chance to hear his name called early in this year's MLB Draft after leading the Greyhounds to the MIAA Championship this season. Heubeck's pitch arsenal was on full display all spring lighting up radar guns with a low 90's fastball that touched 94 and 95 at times, a plus breaking ball and exceptional feel for a great changeup. It's easy to dream on the ceiling of Heubeck from the frame to the arm, and the aptitude of the young man. 

 

In at No. 2 in our final rankings is Severna Park shortstop and University of Kentucky signee, Jackson Merrill. Merrill has sky-rocketed up the Draft Boards following a tremendous Spring in which he slashed .500/.638/1.413 with 13 home runs and 37 RBI's in just 16 games. The former Future Games Team Mid-Atlantic alum has always been known for smooth glove work and fluid actions in the field, but added strength to his frame that helped him make tremendous gains in his arm and raw power. Currently standing at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, the left-handed hitter continues to effortlessly use the whole field, but now with more authority. Of his 13 home runs this spring, 10 were to center or left. He has an advanced approach, feel for the barrel and the ability to stick in the infield at the next level.

 

The first player from the state of Delaware, Lorenzo Carrier finishes at No. 3 in our final rankings. The University of Miami signee and Appoqunimink outfielder possesses tremendous athleticism, a plus arm, exceptional speed and tons of raw power. He also has a chance to hear his named called in this year's draft after leading the Jaguars to the championship game in the DIAA playoffs. 

University of Maryland signee Travis Garnett checks in at No. 4. Another Future Games alum, Garnett burst onto the scene at Grand Park in Indiana a few years back as a member of Team Mid-Atlantic. At 6'6'', 225 pounds he is physically one of the most imposing high school arms in the country. Combine that with a low to mid 90's fastball, wipe-out slider, and tough arm slot; the future is very bright for him. 

Garnett is one of four University of Maryland commits inside our Final Top 10. Archbishop Spalding RHP Noah Mrotek, Middletown OF Zach Martin, and Glenelg LHP Andrew Johnson all started inside the Top 10 all the way back in September of 2018 and finish near their original spots at six through eight in this final update. 

At No. 5 in the final rankings is Archbishop Curley righty and Richmond signee Jake Michel, whom also garnered the interest of several pro scouts this Spring leading the Friars on the mound in the always super-competitive MIAA. 

Calvert Hall shortstop Alex Khan and Dulaney RHP Todd Mozoki round out the Top 10 at No. 9, and No 10 respectively. Khan is signed to play at West Virginia this Fall while Mozoki will continue his education and baseball career at James Madison.
