Luke McClintock RHP / OF / Hamilton Wenham, MA / 2021Rankings StateRank: 43 / POS: 14
HAMILTON, Ma. - The quest for more exposure is on the wish list for Luke McClintock.
The 43rd-ranked 2021 player in New England has had his share of college visits, with trips to Boston College, UMass-Amherst, Bryant, UMass-Lowell and Fairfield, but most have been “more of a campus tour and not baseball-wise visits” according to McClintock. “I feel I need to keep working hard, keep my arm healthy and get my name out there more,” explained the Hamilton Wenham junior. A lost summer was a setback for the 14th-rated right-handed pitcher in the New England 2021 class. “I had some shoulder pain and I didn’t pitch in the summer of 2019,” McClintock reflected. “It was nothing major, I was just being cautious. But I’m healthy now.” It was, admittedly, a learning tool sitting away from the game ... even for such a short time. “The game is not always going to love you,” the fifth-ranked uncommitted RHP in New England said about what he learned. “You’ve just got to persevere and keep working. I’ve had a lot of people tell me I’ve got the skills to play college baseball. I’ve got to keep that in my head, keep working and keep getting better.” There are qualities in his game that colleges have expressed appreciation. “Fairfield said they liked my intensity on the mound and my build,” the 6-0 180-pounder said. “They like all my pitches I’m able to show on the mound and my control.” |
