2021 Future Games: Team Connecticut - Workout Day/Game Day Notes

The tenth annual Future Games took place on July 28-31 at LakePoint in Emerson, Georgia. Top uncommitted prospects in the classes of 2023 and 2024 participated in one of the most popular events each year.
There were 32 teams, including Team Connecticut, with players representing 38 states plus Canadian prospects.
More than 330 scouts from across the country were looking on as approximately 500 players participated in this year’s event.

The Arms
Max Foster RHP / OF / Bethel, CT / 2023Rankings StateRank: 87 / POS: 26
Report: A right-handed pitcher, long and thin frame, with plenty of room for added strength. The arm works with ease, up to 87 mph. Mixed in a slower breaking ball at 64 mph, will need to switch to a slider at some point, shows to have the hand speed for the pitch. Offered a very good change up at times. Tons of projection with this one. |
Zion Fraser RHP / OF / Ledyard, CT / 2023Report: A right-handed pitcher, works quick from a high 3/4 slot, fastball reached 85 mph, located to glove side down at the knees. The delivery is repeated, online and on time. Spin pitch is advanced, punched out 4 hitters, a ton to like with this one. |
Thomas Galusha RHP / 1B / Salisbury School, CT / 2023Rankings StateRank: 17 / POS: 8
Report: A right-handed pitcher, threw the baseball, was juiced up, velocity at 86-89 mph, command up in zone first inning, settle down in second. Showed 3 quality pitches. The arm works from a natural slot, stuff is good, with life to it. The frame is durable, should be off the board at some point. |
Kyle Kipp RHP / Westhill, CT / 2023Rankings StateRank: 82 / POS: 24
Report: A right-handed pitcher, showed a power fastball, up to 89 mph. The delivery is simple and repeatable, stays over the backside. Mixed in a hard slider a 77/78 mph. Pitches downhill, with a good amount of arm side sink and run. Looks to have made a huge jump. |
Jamie Jr Leggett RHP / OF / ST. Paul Catholic, CT / 2023Rankings StateRank: 46 / POS: 17
Report: A right-handed pitcher, works froma higher slot, fastball at 81-82 mph, with a ton more in there. Mixed in a slurvey hammer. Look for a huge climb at some point. Pitched in game 2, cruised through his inning of work, fastball held at 82 on the second day. |
Jayden Longdin RHP / 3B / Lewis S. Mills, CT / 2023Rankings StateRank: 83 / POS: 25
Report: A right-handed pitcher, topped at 83 mph, works from a higher slot, pitched downhill, short on the backside, hides the baseball extremely well, fastball touched 83 mph. Mixed in slurvey breaker at 73 mph. Punched out 5 of 6 hitters, created soft and weak swings and contact. |
Griffin Polley RHP / SS / Fairfield Warde, CT / 2023Rankings StateRank: 16 / POS: 7
Report: A right-handed pitcher, arm action is super loose and clean. The fastball reached 86 mph, life coming out of the hand, located to both sides. Mixed in a slurvey breaking ball. This one has a serious chance. |
Frank Spirito IV RHP / 1B / Bristol Central, CT / 2023Rankings StateRank: 23 / POS: 10
Report: A right-handed pitcher, showed real good stuff in game 1, pounds the zone, with a quick arm, 85-88 mph, mixed in a slurvey breaking ball. The delivery is sound, stays over the back leg, drives down through the catcher, a strike thrower, durable frame. |
TJ Winn Jr RHP / 1B / East Catholic, CT / 2023Rankings StateRank: 66 / POS: 21
Report: A right-handed pitcher, smooth repeatable delivery, a 3 pitch mixer. The arm works from a natural slot, gets a ton of run and sink on his 84 mph fastball, plays harder. Put hitters away with both curveball/changeup combination. Love the tempo and feel he works at on the mound. |
Devin Wolff RHP / 1B / Kingswood Oxford, CT / 2023Report: A big bodied right-handed pitcher, an upper 80's fastball with a breaking ball at 70 mph. Working from a higher slot, tough angle to hit from. The fastball is heavy, with bore action to it. Look for a jump in velocity, should be a 90's guy here at some point. |
The Catchers
Joel Collado C / 3B / Notre Dame Catholic, CT / 2023Rankings StateRank: 73 / POS: 8
Report: A right-handed hitting catcher, pop time of 1.90-1.99, all throws on a line and on the bag. At the plate, lift and leverage to the swing, good pop to opposite field gap. Game-1, two good at bats, swing works, hands are loose. Caught very well behind the dish, solid catch and throw skills. Game 3- big double to right-field, 2.0 throws on the bag down to second. |
Connor Edo C / OF / Seymour, CT / 2023Rankings StateRank: 97 / POS: 9
Report: A right-handed hitter, more of a catch and throw guy, had a pop time of 2.0, hands are strong on the catch. Showed a simple middle of the field approach. Game 1- Caught and received well in game, pop time of 2.0. Game 3, collected a line drive up the middle, caught well, called a good game, handled the pitchers well. |
Ian Wirtz C / 3B / Cheshire, CT / 2023Rankings StateRank: 244 / POS: 33
Report: A right-handed hitter, brings a ton of value, able to play all corner positions and can go behind the plate. Pop time of 2.03-2.09, arm of 74 mph. Approach at the plate is simple, gap to gap, showing clean hands to the baseball. Game 1- Collected an RBI single, was aggressive, swing is short and compact. Played all over the field, brings a ton of value. Game 3- Collected another hit, runs the bases well, competes at a high level. |
The Infielders
Pierce Cowles SS / 2B / Fairfield Prep, CT / 2023Rankings StateRank: 51 / POS: 9
Report: A right-handed hitter, gap to gap hitter, level to up path, could shorten at times. A very good defender, handles the pivot form both sides, arm is a tick above average at 81 mph. Game 1-Two solid at bats, base hit up the middle, played solid defense on both sides of the bag. Game 2- Played hard and fast, above average at bats. Game 3- Swung the bat very well, line drive attack, played a solid defense good turns and starts, projects more as a second baseman. |
Brett Davino SS / 2B / Nonnewaug, CT / 2023Rankings StateRank: 54 / POS: 10
Report: A left-handed hitter, smooth swing, gap to gap approach, an above average runner at 6.89. The hands are soft defensively, turns it with ease from both sides of the bag. Game 1-Produced a pullside double to right, lined out to third in first, going opposite on a tough curve ball. Game 2- Collected another extra base hit, hung on a curveball, drove it deep to center. Game 3, continued to play at a very high level, solid at bats and looks to be able to play all three infield positions. |
Justin Higgins SS / RHP / St. Luke's, CT / 2023Rankings StateRank: 27 / POS: 4
Report: A right-handed hitter, had one of the better workouts, ran a 6.82 sixty-yard dash. Flashed the leather up the middle, arm at 81 mph. Took one of the better rounds of BP, stayed in the middle of the field, hard solid contact. Game 1, base hit to right-field, hung on a tough curve ball. Showed smooth actions. Games 2-3, continued to flash the leather, making it look easy. |
Jack LaRose SS / RHP / Bishop Hendricken, RI / 2024Rankings StateRank: 4 / POS: 2
Report: A left-handed hitter, all fields approach, plus pop in the hands, swing is advanced. Showed enough arm from the left-side at 84 mph. Advanced approach at the plate, hard contact with a walk, stole second. Made all the plays in the field, with solid arm. Game 3, collected a clean single up the middle, also worked a walk, with a stolen base. |
Ryan Preisano SS / RHP / Fairfield College Preparatory, CT / 2024Report: A right-handed hitter, gap to gap approach, life in the hands, moves well at third. Game 1- played well, line drive to center, smooth defender on left-side of infield. Game 2- produced a couple of solid at bats, good approach, look for him to hit at some point with power. Game 3- put together solid at bats, working count deep, fouling a ton of pitches off, played a solid defense, projecting out to play both corners at the next level. |
The Outfielders
Alex Benevento 2B / OF / New Canaan, CT / 2024Report: A right-handed hitter, line drive approach, ran a 6.9 sixty, gets off the blocks quickly. OF arm is average at 81 mph, only a 2024. Game 1- Tracked the baseball extremely well in game play. Hard ground ball in 6-hole, was 4.64 down the line. Game 2 Collected a single, line drive shot over short, runs down the baseball well, feel for the game. Game 3- Collected two hits, ran the bases well, tracked the baseball well. A quick twitch athlete. |
Dominic Gabardi OF / RHP / Austin Prep, MA / 2023Rankings StateRank: 32 / POS: 5
Report: A right-handed hitting outfield, arm was clean, all throws downhill and on target. Showed plus pop to pull side. Game 3- collected a big double to left-center, shows to have gap power with a ton more in his game. |
Gavin OBrien OF / 3B / East Lyme, CT / 2023Rankings StateRank: 59 / POS: 10
Report: A right-handed hitter, long and lean frame, loads of room for added weight gains. Showed good legs, gap power. Game 1- Collected 2 singles, with 2-RBI, stroke is short and quick, athletic strides all over the field. Game 3- Collected a big double split the outfielders in left-center, also lined out to second, had a great swing. Made all plays in outfield, gets good routes and reads. |
Ryan Perez OF / Greenwich, CT / 2023Rankings StateRank: 86 / POS: 16
Report: A left-handed hitter, with plus pop, lift and loft to pull side. An average thrower from outfield, can work around the bag at first as well. Game 1-, had a solid at bat, collected a walk, showed a soft glove at 1st base. Game 3, had two good solid at bats, not much to show for, but worked count, with good swings. Made 3-4 plays in outfield on some tough sun balls. |
Javar Williams OF / Tabor Academy, MA / 2023Rankings StateRank: 6 / POS: 1
Report: A left-handed hitter, a plus runner, ran a 6.44, can move. Line drive approach to the gaps, ton more in his game. Game 1- 1-3, with a stolen base, super quick out of the box, big time athlete. Game 2, had a big triple to right-center gap, clocked at 12.01 from home to 3rd. Changes the game multiple way. Game 3- put together solid at bats, was on base all day, collected a couple stolen bases. Potentially draft pick in a 2 years. |
The Two-Way Prospects
Colby Barker 3B / RHP / Pilgrim, RI / 2023Rankings StateRank: 218 / POS: 19
Report: A right-handed hitter, plus pop to gaps. Showed good flow at third base, clean arm, can work around the bag at first as well. Pitched in game 3, clean fluid arm, fastball reached 80 mph, after 4 days of heavy throwing, will be a mid 80's guy here at some point. |
