Quick Hits: Louisiana State Games (2026 Class)

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

Lafayette, LA - On Saturday and Sunday, September 28-29, 2024, the Prep Baseball Louisiana staff traveled to the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, to host our annual State Games event, which featured over 100 prospects across the state's 2025-2028 classes.  Each participant went through a pro-style workout that consisted of running a laser-timed 60 yard dash using Swift Performance, defensive evaluations, and batting practice using Trackman Baseball and Blast Motion.  After the workout on Saturday, each player participated in two games over the weekend with one on Saturday and one on Sunday.  Below, we take a look at some of the top performers from the weekend in the 2026 class.

TOP PERFORMERS (2026 CLASS)

+ 2026 RHP Trey Scarborough (St. Mary's Catholic HS)

6'0" 160 lbs. lean and athletic frame with room to add strength.  The St. Marys' Catholic product was one of the later adds to our State Games roster and we're sure glad that he was in attendance.  Scarborough tossed the 5th and 6th innings of Game 5 on the weekend and he ended up pitching two shutout innings.  Working exclusively from the stretch, he went right after opposing hitters with a 84-87 mph FB that showed some ride through the zone with spin rates up to 2608 RPM's.  His 78-81 mph SL tunneled extremely well off of his heater with late & short lateral break, and was tough to pick up out of the hand.  He also showed confidence to land an upper-70's CH to both right-handed and left-handed hitters.  Scarborough is a prospect that is a definite follow moving forward.

+ 2026 SS Dominic Pellegrin (Holy Cross HS)

This past weekend was the third straight State Games appearance for the Holy Cross product and it was the third straight year that he's performed at a high-level at the event.  Each year, Pellegrin has showed up more physical and this year was no different, as he now stands in at 5'11" 160 lbs. and he gets the most out of his frame.  In Game 1, he picked up three hits with one being a towering two-run homerun to left field and he also swiped a couple of bases.  He also showed well defensively, whether it was at shorstop, second base, or third base, he made every single play and made it look easy at all three spots.  Green Wave fans will undoubtedly fall in love with Pellegrin when he hits the Tulane campus in the fall of 2026.

+ 2026 OF Harrison Kidder (Catholic BR HS)

Physical and athletic 6'1" 190 lbs. frame.  Kidder was busting heads on the football field just hours before the start of the State Games last weekend and he showed arguably the best combination of overall raw tools.  The Catholic product showed a big arm from the outfield up to 94 mph, which was good for best at the event and he also posted the 2nd highest max exit velocity at 98.0 mph.  Kidder also swung the bat well in game, as he picked up two hits with one being a rocket single to left-centerfield and the other was an opposite field double.

+ 2026 OF Seth DeGeorge (Parkview Baptist HS)

DeGeorge was another guy that had a solid State Games showing last weekend, especially during the game play portion of the event.  In Game 1, he stayed behind a heater on the outer-half of the plate for a RBI single to RF, and in the last game of the weekend, he belted a pull-side homerun to left field.  The Parkview Baptist product looks like he's ready for a breakout junior campaign, as the Eagles look to make a return trip to the LHSAA State Tournament.

+ 2026 RHP/INF Alex Richardson (Belle Chasse HS)

Richardson was a guy that we were excited to see heading into last weekend, after our first look at him at our New Orleans Summer ID, and he showed even better this time around.  The 6'2" 180 lbs. right-hander toed the rubber in Game 5 on Sunday and ended up tossing two shutout innings giving up only 1 H with 1 K.  Using a longer and full arm stroke, Richardson pounded the zone with a 87-89 mph FB and showed much improved feel for his 74-76 mph SL.  He also posted the top infield velocity at 92 mph and smoked a triple in gameplay as well.

+ 2026 RHP Henry Beckers (Parkview Baptist HS)

The uncommitted junior right-hander closed out Game 1 of the State Games with a quality outing.  Beckers tossed two shutout innings giving up only 2 H with 3 K's.  The Parkview Baptist product uses a more gradual build-up in his delivery, before really sinking in his lower-half to drive down the slope.  His FB sat in the 84-86 mph range and showed some arm-side run at times.  Beckers mid-70's SL and mid-70's CH were both solid secondary offerings as well.  He'll be a part of what looks to be a loaded Eagles staff this coming spring.

+ 2026 OF Charlie Donaldson (Sam Houston HS)

Donaldson "quietly" had one of the more productive weekend's at this year State Games.  In the nightcap on Saturday, he went 1-2 with a line drive single and also swiped two bags and he was robbed of another hit on Sunday on a line drive to the left fielder to finish the weekend with 3 QAB's.  A left-handed hitter, Donaldson profiles as that two-hole or bottom of the order bat that is going to be extremely tough to strikeout, and he can cause some havoc when he gets on the bases as well.

+ 2026 1B/3B Denton Hester (Captain Shreve HS)

The 6'3" 185 lbs. corner infielder took one of the louder BP rounds last weekend and carried it over into gameplay.  Hester finished with the top max exit velocity at 98.8 mph and also finished in the Top-5 for average exit velocity.  In Game 1, he had three QAB's and finished 2-3, and then in Game 2 he picked up another RBI single.

+ 2026 MIF Ja'Derryian Washington (Barbe HS)

The former Future Gamer showed some definite improvements in his offensive set-up that paid off for him last weekend.  Washington has definitely quieted down the movement in his hands, which allowed him to be more accurate with the barrel, as he finished with two hits on the weekend.  If he can start to get the knob of his bat to the catcher at front foot strike, so that he's in more of a strong and powerful position, then we could really start to see him drive the ball even more.  Defensively, he once again proved that he's one of the smoothest defenders in the state, which is why he'll likely take over at the shortstop position for Barbe this coming spring.
