Quick Hits: Louisiana State Games (2025 Class)

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

Lafayette, LA - On Saturday and Sunday, September 28-29, 2024, the Prep Baseball Louisiana staff traveled to the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, to host our annual State Games event, which featured over 100 prospects across the state's 2025-2028 classes.  Each participant went through a pro-style workout that consisted of running a laser-timed 60 yard dash using Swift Performance, defensive evaluations, and batting practice using Trackman Baseball and Blast Motion.  After the workout on Saturday, each player participated in two games over the weekend with one on Saturday and one on Sunday.  Below, we take a look at some of the top performers from the weekend in the 2025 class.

TOP PERFORMERS (2025 CLASS)

+ 2025 LHP Bryce Wilson (Chalmette HS)

The former Future Gamer was brilliant again for the second year in a row at the State Games, as he turned in another dominant outing.  Wilson sat 86-88 mph with his FB and was able to locate it to both sides of the plate and his 73-74 mph SL showed big time sweep, as he averaged 18" of horizontal movement.  On top of that, he showed confidence in landing a 75-77 mph CH to both right-handed and left-handed hitters.  The University of Louisiana-Lafayette recruit tossed two no-hit innings with 3 K's and 0 BB's.

+ 2025 RHP Braden Mouton (Central Catholic HS)

Mouton isn't the biggest guy in the world in terms of stature (5'10" 170 lbs.), but he gets the most out of his frame on the mound.  The Jones College recruit uses a quick arm action to release the ball from a 3/4 slot.  His FB sat 88-90 mph and played best to the glove-side, which paired well with his 74-78 mph SL.  Mouton finished his two inning outing with 2 K's and didn't give up any hard contact.

+ 2025 INF Jacob Tucker (Southside HS)

5'10" 190 lbs. with a strong lower-half.  The Southside product was one of the standout offensive performers in the '25 class, after a weekend that was filled with barrel after barrel.  Tucker picked up two hits in Game 1 with one being a rocket double to LCF, and in his second game he went hitless, but still had two QAB's.  During the workout portion of the weekend, he posted the fifth highest max exit velocity at 97.6 mph and the third highest average exit velocity at 92.2 mph.  He's a good uncommitted infielder in the state's senior class, especially for a program that is looking for an offensive infielder.

+ 2025 RHP Troy Green (Slidell HS)

Green showed well at our Senior Games a couple of weeks ago, and performed even better this past weekend at the State Games.  The Slidell product is an athletic mover down the slope with a quick arm, and he worked at an up-tempo pace to attack hitters with a 85-90 mph heater, which was a new personal best.  He finished his two inning shutout outing giving up only one hit, and has firmly cemented his spot as one of the state's best available arms in the state's senior class.

+ 2025 UTIL Mason Hickman (Mandeville HS)

The Mandeville product was a spark-plug all weekend at the State Games and it's easy to see why he was the Skippers toughest out last spring.  A left-handed hitter, Hickman shows really good barrel control and plate discipline with the ability to hit to all fields.  He picked up three hits in his two games, which included an opposite-field double, and also stole three bases.  Hickman also showed defensive versatility, as he played both the infield and outfield well over the weekend.

+ 2025 RHP Logan McNamara (Mandeville HS)

McNamara was another guy who came to our Senior Games a couple of weekends ago, and was stellar this past Saturday at UL-Lafayette for his State Games outing.  Working out of the stretch, McNamara releases the ball from a 3/4-lower 3/4 slot, which helped his 83-86 mph FB play best up in the zone.  He also showed really good feel for spin with a sharp 72-75 mph SL that had spin rates up to 2712 RPM's.  The uncommitted senior right-hander finished his two inning shutout outing giving up only one hit with 4 K's.

+ 2025 RHP Cole Navarro (Brother Martin HS)

The University of New Orleans recruit was a standout performer at our Top Prospect Games back in June, and this past weekend he once again showed why he's the Crusaders #1 arm on the mound.  Navarro attacked hitters aggressively with a 84-88 mph FB that he was able to locate to all four quadrants and he also showed the ability to add and substract on his SL, as well as kill spin on a mid-70's CH.  He finished his two inning shutout outing with 3 K's.

+ 2025 RHP Jake Clifton (Pearl River HS)

The Pearl River product had a nice showing at our Senior Games event in early September, and followed that up with another quality showing at last weekend's State Games.  Clifton tossed two no-hit innings with 3 K's and only 1 BB in Game 2 on Saturday.  He went right after hitters working primarily off of a 82-85 mph FB and his best pitch, which is a 77-79 mph CUT with short lateral break and spin rates between 2405-2522 RPM's.  Clifton also showed feel for a 74-75 mph SL and a 78-79 mph CH, which gives him a true four-pitch mix.
