Prep Baseball Louisiana: Scout Blog (Week 8)
April 15, 2024
Week 8 of the 2024 high school baseball season is now complete, and throughout last week, our staff was able to get out and see several new teams and prospects. Today, we continue our coverage of the 2024 high school season with our updated Scout Blog. The Louisiana Scout Blog provides insider information and scouting notes from our scouting staff during the high school baseball season. This running blog will feature information on underclass prospects, unsigned seniors, draft prospects, and anything else that is notable. We will provide a wide range of information, including player evaluations, velocities, pop times, home to first times, and more.
Continue to check back here, as our Louisiana Scouting Staff will add scouting reports, upon the completion of each week.
FRIDAY APRIL 12, 2024
+ 2025 RHP Slade Shove-Knox (Sulphur HS)
The uncommitted junior right-hander turned in one of the best pitched games that we've seen this season. Last Friday, the Tors gave Shove-Knox the ball against district-rival Barbe and he was nothing short of brilliant. He was able to loacte his 85-88 mph FB in, out, and up against RHH & LHH, and the pitched showed good life through the zone with spin rates up to 2382 RPM's. Shove-Knox's feel for spin is what really stood out though, as he showed two distinct breaking balls. His 72-76 mph CB had "11-5" shape and was used mainly as a "get-me-over" offering, and his 74-76 mph SL flashed some sweep across the zone with some depth and was used as a two-strike pitch. Both breaking balls consistently registered elite spin rates up to 2932 RPM's. He finished the outing with a loss, but anyone who was in attendance last Friday night knows that he more than deserved to win, as he tossed 6 2/3 IP and gave up only 3 H (all singles) and 0 ER with 1 BB and 8 K's. A fantastic performance for Shove-Knox to build on moving forward.
