Prep Baseball Louisiana: Scout Blog (Week 5)
March 25, 2024
Week 5 of the 2024 high school baseball season is now complete, and throughout last week, our staff was able to get out and see several new teams and prospects. Today, we continue our coverage of the 2024 high school season with our updated Scout Blog. The Louisiana Scout Blog provides insider information and scouting notes from our scouting staff during the high school baseball season. This running blog will feature information on underclass prospects, unsigned seniors, draft prospects, and anything else that is notable. We will provide a wide range of information, including player evaluations, velocities, pop times, home to first times, and more.
Continue to check back here, as our Louisiana Scouting Staff will add scouting reports, upon the completion of each week.
FRIDAY MARCH 22, 2024
+ 2024 RHP Wilton Taylor (St. Thomas More HS)
This was our first look this season at the former Future Gamer, after having last seen him in a February pre-season intersquad and he delivered a stellar performance for the Cougars last Friday against district-rival Teurlings Catholic. The Louisiana-Lafayette recruit came out firing, as he worked his FB up to 92 mph in the 1st inning and sat 88-91 mph for the first two innings, before settling around 86-88 mph. It was more control over command with his FB and he didn't have his usual feel for his 72-75 mph "11-5" shaped CB, but it did show excellent spin up to 2874 RPM's. Later in the outing, Taylor went to a late-fading 75-77 mph CH (1330 RPM) and was able to land it to both RHH's and LHH's, which was good to see. He ended up earning the win for the Cougars, after tossing 6 shutout IP, giving up 5 H with 3 BB and 5 K's.
